You should be wary of sending money to people who sign up and only make 1 or 2 posts in the advertising forums.

Did you ask him for his phone number, references, or portfolio before you agreed to the work?

If you haven't heard from him in one or two days, I wouldn't be that worried, but if he doesn't contact you soon, I think it is a good bet you got scheistered.

Have you checked their WHOIS information to get contact numbers / addresses?

I tried bringing up the domain where this person's contact email address is, and saw the same thing that I saw at dreamdolphin.com: a directory listing with one subdir, the cgi-bin. Unnerving, to say the least.

Best of luck with this, Laci.

Great to hear Laci. At least there are still some honorable people out there, even if he did make a mistake.

The one thing that the free email servers are good for - emergency secondary mail contact.

Absolutely. Although I'm not in the Webhosting business, I almost never use my website e-mail, but instead have them redirected to a Hotmail account.

Every business should have a free e-mail account, PLUS a contact list of customers, in the event of an emergency. The lesson of this should be obvious.
