View Full Version : How bad were you affected by the MS SQL Worm?
Now that the smoke is cleared, how bad were you all affected by the MS SQL worm?

I had to go to bed early that night cause half the sites I wanted to access were offline. So, instead of getting all frustrated, I just gave up and went to sleep. I slept pretty well that night.
My sites were up after a brief spell of intermittent downtime at the beginning of the whole mess.

That's very cool, where are your sites hosted?
We had a couple of boxes in NAC down for sometime, but our boxes in Colo4Dallas (through AffordableColo) were affected quite badly and had a sustained outage.

Were these NT boxes, or were they part of the massive collateral damage that many hosts saw?
NT / 2K boxes at Voxtreme?! :D You won't find any of those here ;)
They were just affected by the huge amounts of traffic seen at the datacenter - the boxes were technically up but the network was down.

My main sites are at at NAC with httpme.
I do have a bunch of other sites with Voxtreme's Colo4 DC which did go down as Matt mentioned due to the traffic genereated by the worm thing. :baghead:
I do believe that Matt is looking at improving that situation so that it does not happen again.
I am really happy with both of my providers. They are among the most responsible and responsive hosting services out there.   :)

As some of you probably figured out, it took HHO down for more than 24 hours :(

My sites at fluidhosting and dellhost were down for at least 12 hours that I noticed.
But everything at prioritycolo was ok. They do not have Windows at least not on the box where my reseller account is located.
Interesting that hotmail at Microsoft also worked most all day.
