Hi

Is anyone using dell switches? I would like to know what Dell switches can I use as core and access switches in my network.

Any URL's, configs etc on this will be much appreciated.

We used Dells at one point! I spit on Dell switches! Their 1u servers are great but I dont like their switches!

If you only care about Layer 2 their PowerConnect switches do the job almost well. Every now and then they loose the console if they get too busy and only a reboot will bring it back. They still do the L2 switching, but it's impossible to get in. Outside of that, they're OK, and excellent for their typical sale prices.

Oh by the way, their Gigabit switch is crap if you wish to monitor on MRTG graphs. They don't have big enough counters so that you can monitor the bandwidth on the port. You can't measure past ~120Mbps.

I've heard the unmanaged switches are fine but the managed ones are a bit clunky. I don't think they support jumbo frames yet.
