make sure you have not got the page cached... press [ctrl] & [f5]
If you are using AOL they cache pages. Even if you clear your cache you'll see the same page.
I think your hosting company is the only one who can best help you...
maybe move to a better company... I just hope your domain names aren't with them. I remember when I first bought a website, I got a lousy host. I tried to move away from them, but they gave me so much greif trying to get my domain name, I said screw it... hope you don't fall in that issues. But yes, your host is the only one who can really help you.

I kind of doubt this is host related. I had 2 customers in the past with the exact same problem and it turned out to be AOL related. It went away when they changed ISPs.

Something similar happened to a client of mine before. Did a redesign etc., but even when everything was okay from my end and others in other ISPs, *they* (client) apparently couldn't, even if they cleared their temp Internet files/cache, etc.
Turns out, it was their ISP's slow cache (proxy) updates. After they used another ISP it worked fine, and on their old ISP as well but only after a few days. Until then, we believed only domain propagation took a long time.. so it may be similar in your case
A lot of cable modem and DSL ISP's run proxy servers so that their services appear to be faster than they really are. I've ran into problems with my cable provider before where the dns or cached files would be a mess and I'd pull up a 6 month old version of the site because they had a glitch or something. You can always change your DNS settings and use a more reputable DNS server and input code in your sites to not cache in a proxy server... should solve most ISP problems... at least with sites under your control.

Another unhappy 1&1 customer...I wish the word spread out so everyone would know about the capacity of 1&1's support to their customers...sorry I cant help in any way :( good luck though.
Hi Matt,
I can't say how good or bad your host is, but from posts all over it isn't looking to great.
However, That has nothing to do with the cache problem your having with your new site design.
Many ISPs, not just AOl have page caching issues. They do it so their users can surf their sites faster. It causes a problem for anyone that updates their site though. The new changes are not seen until sometime after the changes were made.
There is nothing your host can do about that. WinXP is a real bad cuplrate of its own. If your using winxp and update your site, or move to another host, it could easily be a week before you see the new site.
Cache generally has little to do with your host, but they should at least be available through regular support channels to tell you how you may seep up the cache refreshing.
Thee are a number of things you can try;
1. go to your site, and hit refresh in your browser at least 20 times.
2. go to your site using a different name... ie; browsers are STUPID ... they think that www.yourdomain.com is a different site then yourdomain.com .
Try going there with or without the www in front of your domain name. This will trick your browser into looking for a new site in many cases your ISP too. :-)
If that worked for you, then hit refresh again 20 times or so,, then try getting back to it with other way, and hit refresh again and again.
3. try getting your site by just the IP numbers if you have a dedicated IP. Many times you haven't been there by the IP in some time, and it will pull up the new page. If yes, then proceed with number 2 above after hitting refresh 20 or so times.
4. Remember,, you may not see the new pages, but any new visitors that haven't been there before should be getting the newest version of your page, so all hope is not lost.
5. Smile..... getting mad about it will not make it work right any faster.
Best of luck with resolving your pages.

unhappy? It's a free service, they can't complain.

Is it possible to specify where to poll DNS in a router (Linksys) without fubarring my connection? (If that's what you were referring to, that is)

Ha-ha i love how web hosts jump in with classic "im so sorry move to better webhost" look at the problem at first OK?
Anyways in dns cases refreshing your page in browser woulnt solve anything all you can do is WAIT. It might take up to 48hours for your isp routers to update. Meainwhile you can acess website using one of dns servers ips by using something like this http://IP/~username/ . If its not dns issue then try looking in ftp tree maybe your domainname point not to html/ or to html_2001/ etc he-he. Try to get program like Flash-FXP and search root ftp directory for string from old file name (from old website). Or just clean your IE(if thats what you use) cache.
Good luck :chicken:

Agreed, Ive actually heard decent things about 1&1. Theres no way I can afford to give up that much free hosting.
For them, its just advertising.....
Customers should be careful and not complain when they receive free service. Threads like this renew my philosophy of no free hosting for anyone (well, almost anyone).....
Sure, if you hosted with me, the support would be better, but I gurantee you I would be chargeing you a heck of alot more then "free" for hosting....
Well this was the last company i used for dedicated server,
i dislike them totaly, hence i moved to fdc servers,
with oneandone.co.uk you get...
email support by an indian,
email replys after 4days
slow control panels
NO OWN DNS <<big problem
NO MOVING DOMAINS WHEN YA PI*SED OFF WITH THEM
best of all
..
...
i live about 25min away from there datacenter,
and they DO NOT OWN all the building they promote!!
you will also find they are just a reseller of every service they do, from adsl, to hosting, to domains..
Never use 1&1 if you can help it!

True, You get what you have paid for. If you pay nothing, you receive... yes, you guessed it right... nothing! :D
Best regards,
Its very well going on about how bad a host is but when the problem lies with the ISP its not fair to blame the Host, I have been hosting with 1&1 (UK) for more than 3 years and there Support has always been good , Yes there cancellation process is a Bit tiresome but at least you get the a sence of security that no ther person can cancel your domain or package. And for the problem with caching check there http://faq.1and1.co.uk out explain it all there or maybe actually try emailing them or calling they offer 24hrs support, i have personnally tried it at 2am and some one actually anwsered it and they fixed the problem straight away. ISP's normally cache websites and as a result alot people think its the Host , The reson they cache is so that the websites can be viewed quickly by the browser for the ISP's users. If you dont want your site cached may be your should put a robot txt file to stop ISP's caching your site. And those of you going on about changing host all the time, thats not always the best option some times it better to stick to one that you know is going to be around for years to come , And for me its 1&1 has they are No1 for me.... Cant say about the US but for germany and UK thats the case and im sure years will tell how good they are...
