2 checkout.com is God. One time setup fee and small fees per sale. It automatically puts everything into your bank account each Wednesday. Great alternative to Paypal's Virtual Terminal...

We also currently use 2co, we were debating trying paypals virtual terminal, have you used both, do you have any pros/cons for paypals system, other then its paypal?

I've been using 2checkout.com for several years now, and I don't have major complaint except for the very slow support response times and that they no longer offer ETF for Canadian bank accounts.

2Co is really a good alternative, and I really agree with there support issue its really show they really need to improve on this part to keep themself with top competitors.

I still have a ticket from a few months ago which they never bothered to answer. I was able to resolve the issue in question myself, but their support is simply not existent.

If you don’t need much help/support from your payment processor then you can go with 2checkout.com, but otherwise I would advise against it.

2checkout has been great for our company. We have had no probems with them at all. Highly recommended.

It's always much much better having your own merchant account. There is a lot of good feedback about 2CO but my own personal experience with them wasn't that great specially with their automated system which seems to fail to charge some recurring orders every now and then...orders getting cancelled and not being notified of..

A merchant account gives you the upper hand which is truely needed to run your business effectively.

I had several problems with 2CO and the conversion from V1 to V2. Dealing with their customer service made me hate 2CO. Was told different things every time I called.

I rarely am able to speak to somebody when I call 2checkout. Most of the time I get the dreaded "Leave a message..."

We currently also use 2CO but looking for a change due to coupon codes not being able to be applied to prices with 2CO.

we used to use 2checkout and still accept it on the odd occasion purely because 2checkout cancelled our account due to fraud which was unfare yet they did send the last check so its all fine now because we only allow current clients to pay via 2checkout now.

I have never heard the problems regarding coupon codes though. However we still do accept paypal which does accept credit cards and we accept checks and money orders.

2checkout is pretty decent, just that the release rate is quite high

This is very new at 2checkout web site:

The following products and services CANNOT be sold:
* IRC Chat Hosting, Game Server Hosting, Shell Accounts
What does "shell accounts" stands for?

How this affects to us as a community?

possibly ssh, at a guess. You nearlly gave me a heart attack if it had said any hosting I would have panicked, not many people trust paypal due to some bad fraud events with them so we used 2checkout to help reduce that, with that said IRC is banned by us as it is so not a big concern.

But the sentence "Shell accounts" is the one that made me wonder what is 2checkout refering to?

By the way, I panicked myself, too.

Maybe you can ask them what they mean when they say that.

If my past experience is any indication, it will take weeks before you'll be able to get a trustworthy answer out of them. :)

I as well have had problems getting any good answers from them. Once had a customer forget he choose that payment method and did a charge back then reversed it. My account was never the same after that. They dont look good upon chargebacks. I would say go with paypal they have been much nicer. Friendly with service providers as well on charge backs.

Shell accounts are not allowed and for most hosts this does not effect you. Mainly they are mostly worried only about sites that advertise shell accounts. cause shell accounts are used mostly for gaming servers or spam. You can find out more info on what a Shell account is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_account

I think I mentioned that I haven't used 2co in quite some time. Back in the day I had a few clients use it though (to make payments). One of those payments must have been hosting paid every 2 or 3 years, heh. Recently I got a couple notices that a billing had failed and that "the billed" was asked to update their info.

Don't even have a clue who it is for, heh (that long ago). Well... they did update their info (surprise)... and paid (surprise)... and 2co deposited a small sum into my account (bank). Hmmmmm it'd be nice to be able to login and see what it was for. Have to look back a few posts to see if I mentioned that they changed the login some time ago and I've never been able to get in since.

Guess contacting cust. service will give me (and you) and update on how quick they respond.

3rd party merchant processor. If you want direct processing and more protection, definitely go directly to get your own merchant account

I have had nothing but excellent service from 2CO. I have had 1 hour responses and have had the opportunity to speak to the head of each department with my issues.

They have also called suspect fraudulent orders for me (from all over the world) even before they batch process, on my behalf.

Best wishes

For how long have you been using them? Do you have a high monthly volume of sales?

Hi,

This will be the going to the sixth month I have been using them. Look, I'm not a huge web host and I wouldn't even classify myself as medium, I am medium - small IMO. I'm not prepared to say figures, but all I am prepared to say is for me they have been everything I have expected from a professional company and beyond.

For a one time fee of 50 USD I rate it as exceptional. Sure, their per sale fees are pretty high, but from all the bad things I hear of PayPal, etc, there is no perfect solution anyway.

Best wishes

2co is good but I didn't get my money transfered for 3 weeks. I like the sheilding from fraud and the easy refund feature as well as the API. However, new signs ups often do't have the api enabled and you have to complain to support and their AUP has gotten very strict which now bans hosts who sell shell accounts. Still cheap and easy!

I agree with most people here, 2CheckOut has been pretty good, actually, their support has improved a lot since we first started out with them, they are to me the best CC processing company.
