I think a section should be made where hosts submit their name and any customers related to this forum should be able to vote on them?

I think it would help bring more signups into the forum!:D

Just a thought

This may be a good idea and help people looking for web hosting to make a good decision as most "web hosting review sites" are favoring the ones that pay the most. Have such a section here would get rid of this problem!

The forum itself could be used for host reviews. Aside from general posts, a forum could be set up solely for reviews (thread titles being the provider's name). I'm not sure if this is what you meant? If not, maybe you could explain briefly what you mean and I'll see what can be done.

It's hard (as I'm sure you're aware) to police reviews on the board. When I go to hosting directories, it's pretty obvious that many of the reviews are planted (and worse, there's often only one per provider).

I don't think that a decent host would have to openly solicit reviews on a forum.
If people are happy let them make their reviews.

I've seen far too many shills to make the type of forum you are suggesting worthwhile.

I agree with blue27. Many of these reviews site provide true picture on the quality of the hosting provider. On top of that, no decenet host will be bothered to request for a review since they have already gotten an established client base. Their advertising effort will normally overshadow any negative feedbacks in a single forum.

Small start-up, on the other hand, will not be able to have enough clients to provide them feedbacks. This ends up with alot of them planting their own reviews to boost their 'sales'.

Nonetheless, i think the current situation as a forum to request for feedback on a case-to-case basis is sufficient. More importantly, you have to try before you know. I may be saying A is great but your opinion may differ because I need my server to publicise a 1-pager website whereas you might need it for ecommerce.

I am sure chicken is doing the site great and a channel for people to voice their most valuable comments to fellow members.

I think thir should be no secton for review prior what Chicken said. Reason of the matter is, not allot of people actully make reviews for a host they are happy with. People get scarred, once they write the review they will jinkxs their self and they will end up finding a new provider sooner or later. People really only post reviews when they are upset with their host - common factor. I say if you're happy with a host and want people to know. Just make a topic in a proper forum area. Their should not be a special section for reviews only. It wouldn't get updated allot.
