Hi Guys, we've had Skype on our site and contact info for a while... and noticed that we've hardly received any communications via that method. We do have 30% international clients, but most everyone sticks to instant messenger, live chat, forums, email/helpdesk, phone.

I was curious what experience other hosts have had with Skype? Do your customers actually use and enjoy that you offer it? Just curious. :)

It would be too much of a pain to install another application solely to chat with a provider.

I'd much rather give them a call or fire them off an e-mail (as long as they're fast via e-mail) than to spend 15 minutes getting a username for skype.

I'm certain the same applies to your clients. :)
Skype doesn't have that large of a userbase!

I don't really see skype is a good application but i see a lot of potential. Not as many people use it more than other methods such as AIM, ICQ, MSN... etc...

Skype needs to organise its target market. RIt's trying to please both with one product..

I just use it for home use and making international calls. But the rates are now more expensive than my standard PSTN telephone in terms of rates...

Skype really needs to get itself into gear..

I would say ticketing is a much better route any ways, because you can keep track of all your correspondence with the customer.

If you get your own skype number, your customers dont have to download skype, as simple as that i use an office number not skype though but skype numbers are a positive possible!

If you target market would use it, Skype would be good to use on your website. I personally don't use it at all, as I just don't want to have another program open. If trillian or somebody else intergrates it into something I've already got open... I might consider it.

Personally, If I'm hosted and my host is using SKYPE I would love to get help through SKYPE. It's fast. You don't have to wait for hours for your email to get replied but again it depends on the target market but eventually it will grow , most hosts will start using it.

We would use it if Skype offered a group call function... so that all our staff can be put into the group, and then depending on which skype name or number is called set different priorities for where the call goes.

With multiple staff, its just not a optimum solution :(

I use vonage and pay for an 800 number, It's easier for me and my clients. I'm always on call and usually no ones around to pick up phones for my company, so I forward all my calls to my cell & work number. Works great.. can't beat it for only $27 a month

Not all customers like all type of support we provide. They choose the one with which they feel more comfort with.

We never got a single call on Skype. My customers still prefer Yahoo IM and Ticket Based Support.
