Well... as you have probably figured out by now, I've been quite busy with the purchase of the house. Just thought I'd post a picture (which isn't the greatest shot, but gives you the basic idea).

When do we get to see pictures of the inside?

One piece of advice: If you have the money, make any changes you want now. Once you get settled, it gets a lot more difficult. We made that mistake when we moved into our townhouse 5 years, the stuff we wanted painted didn't get painted until we were ready to move out last month :).

Congrats, Chicken...will it be called Chicken Manor, Castle Chicken, or the Chicken coop? :D

BTW, Allan has a great point. DO the changes now before all your stuff gets in there. Congrats, again!

Hey congrats!

Not fair, you have nice green grass that looks warm and soft. We have snow or rock solid ground and have been freezin our butts off.

Have you visited GlobeXplorer yet to get your satelite view? Definitely worth grabbing!

The house is pretty close to move-in condition. New paint, carpet, etc. I'm not sure if I'll do much to it, as we have a billion things to do.

I checked GlobeXplorer but the image was rather furry, not sure if it is better if you order a print?

Now I feel cheated. I can't see the neighborhood, let alone the colored deck!

Yea, Akash, we need pictures of the colored deck -- the more colors the better :D.

No.. you certainly won't cut it as a RE saleperson LOL

Congrats AGAIN..!! gee.. new forum, new home.. what's next in the WWOC???

I see you have a chimney... hope it's big enough for Santa.. [or your chosen equivalent purveyor of childrens gifts etc]

That bit of lawn does look nice and plush and spongy.. is there a lot at the rear? ..mowing lawns is less fun than sweeping the balcony..

Big enough for Santa! And I just got the call that it recorded and I will be getting keys shortly whooooo-hooo! We really needed to move. We're still living in my "bachelor pad" (one bedroom apt.), and with the wife and Nugget, whooo.. not much space. It was really getting out of control.

Unfortunately I have to spend some time moving and getting things set, buying al=ppliances, etc., so it is going to be hard to do the forum mods I wanted to work on and the added parts of the site, etc., for a bit.

Will try to do everything, but this will delay things.

Are those chicken feet in the sidewalk or sand.

Ahh...appliance shopping, gotta love it. Fortunately for you, appliance manufacturers are coming off one of their worst quarters ever -- so there are a lot of really good deals right now.

Are you updating the existing appliances, or did they leave you nothing :)?

Yeah.. I guess it's not like when I was a single lad.. all I needed was a fridge [for beverages] and a toaster [for breakfast] plus a TV/Sound system ... but I noticed this comforting fable/anecdote about appliance shopping in the USA somewhere on a server....

--------------------

A MODERN FABLE

Aesop's fables and other traditional children's stories involve allegory far too subtle for the youth of today. Children need an updated message with contemporary circumstance and plot line, and short enough to suit today's minute attention span.

'The Troubled Chicken'

Once upon a time, there was a chicken whose only pleasure in life was driving from his suburban bungalow to his job at a large brokerage house in his brand new 4x4.

He hated his manipulative boss, his conniving and unethical co-workers, his greedy wife, and his snivelling, spoiled children.

One day, the chicken reflected on the meaning of his life and his career and on the unchecked, catastrophic decline of his nation, its pathetic excuse for leadership, and the complete ineffectiveness of any personal effort he could make to change the status quo.

Overcome by a wave of utter depression and self-doubt, he decided to take the only course of action that would bring him greater comfort and happiness: he drove to the mall and bought imported consumer electrical goods.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Invest in foreign consumer electrical goods manufacturers.

Looks great! I'm sure this investment will the stepping stone for many great things to come!

Is it your first place?

I'm hoping the appliance manufacturers are giving them away, heh. They left a free standing range/oven unit, but I had them drag the rather stinky fridge away. Need fridge and washer/dryer.

Yes, seems we need to step beyond fridge and toaster at this point. Luckily, these appliances are gifts from the folks, or I'd be washing the clothes at the local laundry o' mat and eating out quite often.

This is the first place. We just went there with the keys :D and vacuumed a bit, walked around and tried to figure out which room would hold what. It is rather easy figuring this out when you live in a one bed apartment. Things either go in the junked up bedroom or the junked up living room. Whole different story when you actually have a choice of rooms to junk up.

Nugget will have his own room, we're pretty sure which one. Our room was more difficult. There are two similar sized rooms (about 12x12 ft.), and one larger bedroom. I think we're going to sleep in the other smaller one and leave the larger one for my office (drums, computers, etc.).

The living room is a bit odd in that it only has one corner. The living room is on the back of the house in the middle (between one of the smaller bedrooms and the kitchen. The back wall has a gigantic window with two smaller windows on each side and a door leading outside. Hard to really put anything there. Hard to describe. I'll take some pictures when it is light out.

Hey Chicken,

I didn't know you were a drummer, too. What kind of drums do you have? I've got a blue 7 pc. Ludwig set. They're right next to my computers. When i get a little tired of playing with the comps, I stretch out and play the drums for about an hour. I always feels better after banging away for an hour or so.

Funny, our new house has a basketball court, which is how I prefer to get away from the computer -- running around the basket and concentrating on the shot kind of frees my mind (not right now, because it is ~18 degrees today). We had a court in our old development, but it is nice to have one in our back yard.

Due to living in an apt. for wayyyyy too long, I have one of those super electronic ones (Yamaha). I sold the Pearl kit a long time ago, but might sell the electronic ones now and trade 'em in for something that I can make some noise with. :D

How long have you been playing?

As for basketball courts, well... hmmmm... I could remove the shed and play on the cement I suppose, though I was never all that good at basketball. My parents once in stalled one as a gift, but I never indicated that I liked bball and they were a bit disappointed at our use of it (lack thereof).

Poor pops... :(

I've been playing keyboards and piano for a very long time. I started playing professionally when I was in 6th grade. I started drumming in middle school. My friends and I had a metal cover band, and I was the drummer. hehehe...

I used to have a Roland pad set with an Alesis D4 drum module. I had a lot of fun with that. Electronic drums are handy for apts, but nothing beats a real set. It's so much more fun playing real drums...more power.

That is cool. I should do more of that. We have a half-court out back. I should really get out there more often. It is a lot of fun throwing a b-ball around. Drums are more fun, though.

Drums are only more fun if you have an iota of musical talent :D. Since I lack that, I have to settle for sports :).

I agree. I played the piano for about 4 years, and just got tired of it. I love sports though, or atleast basketball. I play center on my school's team (pretty small school so we have mixed varsity and junior varsity). But it's a blast.
