Ohhh, if you change the last number to /22/ they're offering a complimentary copy of Voice over IP Fundamentals. I've yet to check all numbers ;) :D

I have this book (Designing Network Security) and it is really good. It focuses on the Cisco SAFE model of network security -- which is probably unfamiliar to most and has some excellent tips. However, be warned, it does not delve into specific configuration examples -- instead it provides a satellite view of network security.

It looks like no matter what numbers you put in you get one of those two books or free access to "Fast Track".

/14/ is a complimentary copy of 802.11 (Wi-Fi) Networking Handbook, a 360-page book that provides hardware advice, radio frequency fundamentals, performance tips, architecture requirements, and more.

:D -and I just checked a couple, I'm not going through every number, just happened upon these three.

Thanks Chicken for the info.

I have signed up for all 3. Information is always good and these books usually improve my sleeping habits.

I love free stuff... don't really care what it is! If it has anything to do with computers I'm all in!

Anyone else get Network World magazine? It's free if you qualify and is a weekly magazine (and a large one at that) that has networking and IT news and information. Very informative.

www.networkworld.com is the address :D

Nice finds... I found five things to sign up for. Two hard covers, one paperback, one magazine and an online subscription to FastTrack.

2 free years of Stuff... hmm... I wonder if that's a scam to get personal information. What would they get for giving away 2 years of issues?

I bet if you give them your info your inbox will fill with spam in 2 days :D

Chicken, thanks for posting this. This is great as I want to learn more about VoIP technology. One question, for anyone that may know...

I tried filling out the form for the Voice over IP Fundamentals book and the next screen just sat there and sat there and sat there... I refreshed and the screen that came up said:

Your issue of Packet magazine will arrive in approximately 4-6 weeks. Click here to learn more about the benefits of subscribing to Packet magazine.

Do you think it registered properly? I'd hate to re-register and then have them flip out that I wanted two books but I just wanted one. If I wait the 4-6 weeks, this offer won't be valid. Any thoughts?

Do you think it registered properly?

Just ran it again, figured what the ... and the same message appeared so that must be the traditional message for that book. It didn't seem to care that I ran it twice so hopefully they won't flip when sending it. I wouldn't mind just getting one but I wanted to make sure.

Once I entered info for one of the books and it returned something about FastTrack. I think I filled out another form (seems some of the numbers are duplicated), and it returned the right page. I'm not sure about the Packet magazine thing. That might be what you'll get???

Has anyone gotten their free book? I never got one... but I sure do get some SPAM from them now. What a crock

I received a postcard recently that said they weren’t sending the book. It said something like “due to an overwhelming response blah blah blah”

Reminds me of those t-shirts…. I signed up for a free book and all I got was this stupid postcard.

What a ripoff. I'm sure they're not purging our email addresses out of their database though... I hate these free offers. This just reminds me why I usually never sign up for them.

Nope, nothing here. But all free offers aren't bad. I did get my free subscription to Stuff magazine. :D And my wife got her free subscriptions to two baby magazines that were listed here once. Oh' yeah, and I also got a package of labels, etc. from MediaFace with the trial of their latest software. Another freebie that was posted here. But, no book... :(

I was surprised, the book has a $50 retail value.
