this might be a good idea to make a sticky.
There have been some scammers going around posing as webmasters of forums.
The person(s) is asking people if they want to become a moderator for around $400/month.
Read about it here http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?t=85092
The person contacts the people over MSN messenger asking for paypal information, he asks for mothers maiden name etc to setup forum account.
SPREAD THE WORD!
great post over there and thnk you for warning the members of HHO because that looks like he is looking for a new site to scam its members.

why would anyone pay for the headake that is forum moderation :yuck:
Yea, Absolutely. Its abit strange for me.
Why should someone pay $400/month to anyone to get the job of forum moderator?
Or I cant get his post correctly.

The way I read it he offers to pay$400 for a moderator then gets the Paypal account number and the persons mother's maiden name (the usual security question) so they can rip off the Paypal account.
In case I misunderstood - apologies and I'll go back to sleep now ;)
You have it right NyteOwl.
My opinion would be "buyer beware"
If someone is profoundly stupid enough to give all of these details to someone based on an anonymous MSN conversation then they deserve to lose all of their money.
They will be the next members of the Darwin Awards.

First he would ask for the forum username and PW
He would ask for a paypal address from the person then go to paypal and try the forum PW because a lot of people use the same PW (those people :banghead: ) then if that did not work he would request the "forgot password" link then the person would get an e-mail from Paypal, and he would say paypal is sending you an e-mail so that your paypal can be verified.

Anyone who knows me (and has requested this) knows that I don't have a single IM program installed on my machine and thus, don't use them. No one here would contact you via IM.

No one was paying to be a moderator. someone was offering a Mod job:wiggum: @$400 per month. I guess this woudl appeal to some hopeful poster with an opportunity to feel powerful+ the pay would be good.
