I've been lurking here for awhile trying to learn about a lot of topics. Today, when I was board, I went to PHPCoins website and saw this - figured I'd post it here to make sure anyone that was using it knew about this:

2005-12-13: IMPORTANT SECURITY ADVISORY!
A Proof-of-Concept hack was released to the internet before we were advised of a vulnerability. Because exploit code is available rather than just a vulnerability notice, if you downloaded phpCOIN before 2005-12-14 it is vital that you update your installation of phpCOIN by downloading the 2005-12-16 fix-file, or viewing http://cvs.phpcoin.com and making a simple change to five files

hate to break but freeware is not the greatest idea even freeware security is prone due it usaully been extracted from another program so there are always most liky gaps where leeches will get in.

Just to correct a misconception above; Freeware itself isn't the issue so much, it's the code quality that's going to cause security issues.

Reused code can be completely secure if it's done well; and is often MORE secure than original code as it has been debugged over time.

Pay the Author , and you'll get a better software then this. When something needs time, it needs money as well. You can't expect the author to devote 24 hours on it for free? No, no one would do that. We have Modernbill, whmcs, but they're little secure than this. WHy? Because the Developer's want you to pay them and they're thus, working oin the softwares to make it great one.
