View Full Version : Numbers to block?

I've been using Kall8 for a little over a year now and I just had my first automated spammy type of message left on my 800 number. Needless to say I wasn't too thrilled since I paid for that call. However, I was able to search the Internet for the number that was recorded as calling and I found three which are from the same company that called me.
With Kall8 you can block certain numbers from calling your 800 number. So I did. But, I thought it would be a good idea to share that with others so we all could block these same numbers. No need for any of you to get the same message I got. The three numbers I blocked are:
605-482-4025
605-772-4025
605-990-0500
If anyone else here has used a feature similar to this (whether with Kall8 or any other carrier), list your blocked numbers as well. It might be good if we could share this info with each other to prevent as many of these aggravating calls as possible.

So nobody else blocks out any specific phone numbers? Especially those that call trying to sell you something? So much for trying to get a good list going so we all don't get hit with the same advertisers wasting our time and costing us money.

I think the problems is that while we've all gotton some numbers from time to time, it probably isn't the same one and the chances that they'll call you and me are pretty slim. Also, you can request credit for those types of calls.
I had one guy call up and do the heavy breathing thing. His name came up and I told him (by name) to stop calling. Of course, he called again, so I fowarded his call to the local detective at the police station in his town, heh. He tired to call a few more times but due to the forward, he stopped. Must have been confusing for him to get his local PD, heh.

Also, you can request credit for those types of calls. I wasn't aware of that. Good idea. This time was quick (probably a minute call or so) but I will contact Kall8 if it gets worse. I just happened to find two of the three above numbers when searching for the one that called me. You're probably right though that the same people calling each of us won't be as common. I had one guy call up and do the heavy breathing thing. His name came up and I told him (by name) to stop calling. Hi,
I've had my toll free 877 number for years, but just received my first crank/spam call on the number. I've been reading other message boards and people are saying the same thing.
I'm curious if there is a common thread between the victim's. I'm wondering if other people who have been posting about this problem caller also have a Vonage account? I just signed up for a vonage account a few weeks ago, and in the account registration form I listed my 877 phone number, as they require a phone number to sign up.
From a Google search, I saw a search result of a posting in the Vonage forum which listed the 605-772-4025 number. However, when I clicked on the link to that forum page, the keyword I had used in my search was nowhere to be found. Yet is shows up in the description text in the Google search result. So, it appears the Vonage moderator removed that posting from their forum.
Now I'm wondering if Vonage is selling user account information, if their database has been hacked, if a Vonage employee sold customer account information (remember, that happened at AOL) or if a Vonage employee themself is making the calls using the customer account information he/she has access to.
Just thoughts...just wondering.

snow, I do have Vonage but that's not where this advertising call went to. I use Kall8 and have that 888 number route to my cell phone. So it never goes through the Vonage service. As far as I can tell, this spam is just random as some people have received a similar call while others obviously haven't. Luckily, in the year or so I've had the 888 number through Kall8, this was the only spam message I have received (for now). :)

While we're at it, here's a number of some person who keeps calling and leaving profanity on our voicemail (now blocked):
218-349-7965
I also use Vonage, but my 888 number (through Kall8) is very new and not listed anywhere on my vonage account.
I didn't think I had any enemies
There are now a lot of calls from the phone spammers.
I have been using www.halloo.com (http://www.halloo.com).
You can set up advanced rules to filter your calls by caller ID and just hang up on the bad callers.
There are a lot of sites out there that now specialize in listing bad callers. Just google the phone number.
