Hi,

I have just received the final draft of my logo for http://www.miteacher.com and was hoping you could look at the site and give me some reviews. The site has not yet been developed, but I have to put the "final touches" if any on the logo. Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Please don't take this the wrong way, as it is only my opinion and I am sure others will think differently, but I don't like the logo one bit.

The font looks ok, but the lighthouse really looks like some third rate clip art. If I didn't see your URL I wouldn't know that it stood for an I.

Thats what I needed. But I need suggestions. I hired a design company (castemelody) who I have been extremely pleased with their past service, but this one really isnt striking me the right way too. What do I say? Suggestions, please. This is important :)

I think it looks ok but if you need some smart flash light or something to impress I suggest that you use another design company. Try voxunity - they are skilled and doesn't cost to much.

All I can say is... no no no. i don't see how the image relates at all to:

MITeacher.com is a FREE solution for Michigan Educators, Students, and School Administrators. Our online suite of tools brings an exciting and cutting-edge dimension to the classroom and bridges the gap between Michigan Teachers, Students and Technology.

I just don't understand how the lighthouse relates to this site. Michigan have many lighthouses? Do lighthouses somehow relate to your online suite of tools for Michigan Educators, Students, and School Administrators?

To me, the logo doesn't say, "...exciting and cutting-edge dimension.." -it just seems to be a confusing element of a so-so graphic. The kerning also seems to be wrong (the space between the "M" and the graphic, and the graphic and the "T" are different, and the space after the "T" and the "e" seem just odd).

Also, does the "MI" part of "MITeacher" stands for Michigan Information Teacher? Internet?

I've seen some nice work from them, but I have to be honest and tell you that my personal opinion is to start over with the concept and look. I just don't think it works and I don't think it even hints at exciting and cutting-edge.

Ouch Chicken,

Can I get a hug? I completely agree though, and actually emailed them today with more specific examples of logos I like. I ditched the lighthouse concept and am going for the more cutting-edge-chicken-wont-make-me-cry look.

MITeacher = MIchigan Teacher. I have MIProf too, along with MIChicken ;) Does the whole MITeacher thing not work? I thought it did. It sounded great in my head, but that means a lot. Help... Please?

Michigan does have a lot of lighthouses, but I agree it doesn't really fit. Since you are targeting Michigan folks, I would say focus on the Michigan hand, it's identifiable immediately.

I think I would start with something like the attached image, and go from there.

Sorry, it wasn't supposed to be so harsh. I just want the site to be great, and I didn't feel that logo was close. I get the MI Teacher thing now, guess I wasn't thinking state abbreviations. Makes more sense now, heh. It works...

Can't wait to see logo #2 :D

I have to agree... when I first saw it I had no clue the lighthouse was an I... I had to look at your web address to figure out what the name was.

Good idea... maybe with some tweaking it could look really good.

I was confused also. I did not see the cheesy-looking lighthouse as an "I".

I don't really associate lighthouses with Michingan either. It's usually Massachusets, Maine, Maryland, Rhode Island, etc. that are associated with lighthouses.
