Hi.

I'm making a forum about video games, music, movies and other stuff, and I need help with a domain name.

Any suggestions? :(

Media something? Entertainment something? Personally, I'd go for something a bit offbeat and eye catching. It might not have much to do with what you're discussing... like purplefrogs.com I dunno.

If making up a word isn't your forte...try focusing on one main topic instead of having such a wide list of topics.

it will be easier to decide what you want from then on.

You might want to find a common ground (AND keyword) that encompasses all these areas, like "teenager" or "fun" or whatever, THEN you can start thinking about a domain name for your forum from there.

This is true. One could certainly have forum(s) focusing on music, video games, or movies. Plenty of discussion in any one area.

Also plenty of existing forums already doing this.

You could use something from where you live or a place you really like. Someone recently told me that Ebay was inspired by their location, the SanFrancisco bay area. And Cisco too. Actually my company too... weird how I thought of Ebay first.
:offtopic: Did anyone else not know Ebay was named from bay area, or have I just been under a rock?

I didn't know what exactly it was named for.

Yeah, I always thought ebay was just another made up word.

Another way to get ideas is to try translating words into other languages and see if you come up with anything you like.

Use a thesaurus and pick a name. That is what I did.

hint: latin names are cool

Didn't know that. But as far as Cisco goes I know there is a little town in Texas called Cisco. I always thought it stood for something like Computer Information Systems Company, am I way off?

Edit: Back on the subject, come up with a simple, common word that has something to do with your site like "stuff" and then goto the thesaurus and find a better sounding word. I suck at coming up with names unless I do it that way.

:offtopic: Did anyone else not know Ebay was named from bay area, or have I just been under a rock? Hmm... I could have called myself something like 'BrisHost' (being in Brisbane, Australia)... but there was something about naming my company after a Jewish circumcision ceremony (http://www.circlist.com/rites/bris.html) that kinda turned me off the idea. (I guess it coulda been a great niche market  ).

All suggestions here are good; try putting them all together.

Find some words you like and/or are related, find some others that are catchy and perhaps unrelated, put them through a thesaurus and shuffle them about a bit - surely that'll come up with something :wiggum:

I think Cisco is cut off... err... shortened from SanFrancisco. They're located in the Bay area and their logo looks like the Golden Gate bridge. I don't know where I got this idea or have any facts to back this up, just what I always thought...
