Basically i dont know if its in the right forum but here goes. I was wondering why most american people hesitate to buy of a .co.uk domain. I was thinking of creating a version of my site with american prices but using the same domain anme and it was pointed out to me by brian that most americans wont buy hosting if its a uk domain. Would you recomend that i buy a new domain .com has been taken in my desired domain or stick to my current domain? Also why do Americans not like .co.uk domains

We have quite a few american clients who have purchased through our .co.uk website. However many propective clients are worried about the different time zone for support, taking payments in £ instead of $usd etc and would prefer to buy from a non co.uk domain in $usd.
I think it's more a "feeling secure" thing. We are drawing up plans to make our company more appealing to US and abroad markets for this reason.

Though we love you guys (and really we do), .co.uk probably seems like a "foreign domain" -which I suppose it is, while .com seems more domestic (or maybe the word is generic, I don't know). While I personally wouldn't have an issue buying services through a .co.uk domain or a .net domain, many people see .com as king (regardless of where the company is located, etc.) I have noticed that people are getting more used to other extensions though.
Do you UK'ers (in general) feel that .com is foreign?

Personally - No I don't. But I do get frustrated at the lack of uk companies with no co.uk domain - makes the google search "uk only" searches difficult when you need to buy something within the uk :-)
