Hello,

Earlier I typed HostsHideout.com trying to get here and it took me to hostingdiscussion.com.

I foresee that down the road when this forum gets bigger this is going to be a problem because of the similarities. For a brief moment I thought that this site got a redesign. It's the same theme just looks different.

I just wanted to see if I'm the only one that can't type and like to pluralize things.

How are the words "hosthideout" and "hostingdiscussion" similiar? It's like wanting to go to webhostingtak.com and typing freewebspace.net.

It's not the actual names that are similar, it's the domain names that are similar.

hosthideout.com
hostshideout.com

Do you see how similar they are and how easy it is to type the wrong one?

That is what I was trying to get at.

This could pose a problem in the future however I think people will catch the difference.

Hey, is that a feature of Mozilla Firebird or can IE even do that? Meaning, the shortcut buttons at the top of the browser in their own toolbar. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure IE can do it. Just be sure to unlock the toolbars first, then you should be able to drag it down to a new row if you want.

That's how I have it set as well...

Bruce, almost in the same order! I have FWS WHT DSLREPORTS and HHO

IE can definitely do it. :)

But of course, it's the 'Links' toolbar. I feel foolish... :baghead:

Yeah, they are really similar. I can see how that could be a problem...

I contacted the owner of hostingdiscussion (Jose Orioli) in March asking him about the possibility of selling the site to me (it is and pretty much has been dead). He didn't want to. It seems he bought the domain HostsHideout a day after this site went live. Bottom feeder scum, but what can you do. I didn't register it, probably wouldn't have, oh well.

If this site ever becomes a force to be reckoned with, I'll pay the WIPO fee to have the name taken away from him and sue him for damages, lost traffic and advertising fees. :D

I dont think HHO is losing a tremondous amount of traffic to this domain; there is nothing to say that that site may have got all its members and posts from people genuinely trying to get to HostingDiscussion.com and there is nothing to say that the people there used the domains HostsHideout.com to get there, they may well have all known about HostingDiscussion and jsut gone there.

But yeah i agree its confusingly similar and yeah Chicken - utilise your rights!

And Phrozen....*cough*. ;)

A have the Links toolbar enabled. Where is it and how do I add things to it? I have IE 6 :P

Thanks - not an IE person but it's the only browser that displays CSS how my favorites sites use it :(

Edit: Ahh, figured it :)

I don't think you have to fear hostingdiscussion.com....

but webhostingtalk.com should fear that we own webhostintalk.com :D.
