I had an email from a customer saying they had paid for web hosting but not received any details. It was not on our database, so I had a look in our credit card system and couldn't find any record of the payment.
I thought it might be a paypal payment as we sometimes have problems there but there was no trace of it either. So I checked declined card payments and nothing there either.

I emailed the customer to ask him how he paid.
His reply:

"earlier today, I posted the payment"

It sometimes happen that people who have no credit card, no paypal, no checking account, etc. will be tempted to mail the cash to your address -- a desperate attempt to get your service. Haha!

We even have a client who mailed check to us. At least we received it after 2-3 weeks. And then we encash it and waited for another 2-3 weeks for it to appear on our bank account.

It is important perhaps to put a clear instruction on how to pay. And if the customer does not have any of those, they should contact you and not just mail the cash! :)

Or it could be the, "Really! I sent you the money, set up my account now so I can send out 3 million emails!" variety. They play stupid, but they aren't.

Ive not experienced anything like that as of yet but when i do i think ill have a breakdown :banghead:
