Hello,
We are soon launching HostAwards.net, and we are looking for some more 'judges' and moderators.

We won't offer salary, but you get to rate hosts :D

The requirements are:

- You know about the Web Hosting business
- You preferably are a native english speaker (unlike me :()
- You have some free time on your hand

What you have to do:

- Once a month rate hosts and select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best host in each category (Best webhost, best support.... etc)
Your votes will be added together with the other judges, and that way we get the winner.
- Moderate the forums

The site is going to be databased driven, and I am writing an admin control panel, so the voting will be done easily by you.

Ïf your interested, please contact me with the following (in the prefered order)

-MSN
-ICQ
-E-Mail
-Aim
-Pm

You can send me your contact info by PM, or post it here, and i will contact you.

How can someone judge the support of a hosting provider without actually being a customer?

We can ask presale questions, and if they have live support, we judge how much they have someone online etc...

But you do have a point there.

It will be a bit hard to judge support, unless we can hear anything from hosted customers.

I know you're looking for judges, but I'm hoping my comments might help you decide on the judges you pick. Maybe before you pick judges, you might want to firm up the categories a bit more (so you can find the right people for the right category).

As you're probably aware, to choose the 'best host' -you need to have some measurable qualities in order to determine a meaningful winner. Not that *not* having that (or putting much thought into it at all) has stopped various places from chosing 'best' winners.

Depends if you actually want to create and intelligent and useful resource, or if you just want to create... something else.

You going to judge a host by how often they are on live support?!
Thats just wrong....

We have live support on our site, but dont sit on it 24/7. What about hosts who DO sit on it 24/7 but still provide poor support, they will get an award for it?

IMHO you need to take an overview of support and that involves being an actual customer - an outsider testing livesupport and email wont get a true view of how good or bad a hosts support is.

Chicken hit the nail on the head with his comments.

So many of these review sites start up and dont really use a proven scoring system - thats why nobody tends to trust them and they just turn into a "the best host are these guys because they pay us to say it".
