I would frequently drop by the hho chat in hopes of seeing some fellow hosters online, but to my disappointment there was a 95% lonesome rate.

How about maybe adding a chat link/feature back into the forum ? I would just like to have a live environment to interact with other hosts. btw, nice looking forum chicken .

Chicken,

To add onto that, JPilot offers a great chat applet what can be linked into the VBulletin registration system. I would check it out at JPilot.com. HostHideOut really provided a unique service, and I hope you dont just scrap the idea.

Chat is a hard sell. I don't know if it really works or not, so far I've found it doesn't, but heck, I'm willing to give it a go if people feel it is useful. It was nice to be able to chat with everyone from time to time and to get some quick advice, etc.

I do like the idea of linking jpilot to vbull. I don't know much about it, but will look into it. If anyone wants to help cover that area (knows anyhting about installing, maintaining, etc.,) please let me know.

Edit: I looked on jpilot but didn't see anything pertaining to connecting it to vbull???

Chicken,

I used JPilot for the school website I used. I have a license around here somewhere, Ill see if I can transfer it to you, it hasnt been used in years. My budget was limited to around $100, but even so I found JPilot to be rich in features. It is EXTREMELY customizable, and has many great options. One of the best things I found was that it ran on an IRC network, which adds yet another level of customization. :)

Chat mike work better if we shedule a couple of times a week to have the chats, rather than have people randomly show up. Of course impromptu chats are always fun, but if there are scheduled time it might attract more people and make them more useful.

That's might kind of you, mighty kind. I am not all that familiar with running and maintaining an IRC network however, which is one reason I stayed away from IRC. I officially put you in charge of it! :D

A scheduled chat is always great except with a world-wide audience it is difficult to schedule something so that everyone knows when to show up (and if it is convenient for them to show up).
