Anyone have one of those mini RC cars? Like the Shen Qi Wei ones? Something along the lines of: http://www.cybergiftco.com/shenqiwei.html

You know, the ones you got 1,000 emails about at Christmas time. OK, so it worked, I now have an odd desire to buy one.

:stupid:
For some reason I can not imagine them being any good. And I think I got at least 10 emails a day about these things. Even if I wanted one, I would never by from a spammer. But I do have the urge to get one too... :p:

Yeah, I wouldn't get them from a spammer. RadioShack has what they call ZipZaps (though who knows if they have any left, seems Christmas hit hard for these things). As far as I can understand and have read, these were supposed to be the hot toy next year, but email spammers created so much interest in them that people wanted them this year and depleted supplies, heh.

Viral marketing at it's best.

From what I've read...

Cars snap onto the controller, which is powered by 2 AA's (-ish, some vary), and this is what recharges the car (takes 45 seconds - 1 minute to recharge, lasts about 5 minutes-ish until recharge). They have approx. 30 feet range and run best on concrete. Wood floors are a bit slippery for them, and carpet is good, but as with all remote control cars, all the carpet fibers get wound around the wheel and gears.

I mean for $15 you can't go too wrong and I'd get bored with it after 5 - 10 minutes anyhow, so that charge cycle seems to fit my low attention span. :D :chicken:

... yeah I've seen them on-line, but never in a store and don't know anyone who has bought them. I'm looking for those who actually purchased these little buggers.

I picked up two of the motorcycles from ebay so Roseanne and I can race them in the new house (lots of hard wood floors and tiling). They are actually kind of fun in a silly way.

A regular remote control car gets boring very quickly because you run out of space (unless you have 3500 square foot house :D). With these, just getting from one end of the kitchen to the other can be an adventure.

I bought two. Sent them to school so the wife won't yell at me. Last time I bought a digital camera and sent it to school. I came home and asked if I could buy it. Took about an hour of her saying, "NO!" to finally break her down! *whew*

I pulled it out of my pocket the second she said, "OK!" and she gave me a one-eyed look. Told me never to do it again, heh. I'll just wrap hers up and give it to her as a present. :D

That's why I got two...I told Roseanne that it was a present for her, and that we could race together -- she sort of bought it :).

Excellent. I feel this will work on my wife as well. This should be a marriage tip. When buying toys for yourself, such as remote control cars, jet skiis, hookers, etc. ... buy one for her to play with too.

With the new house, we got a new 32" wide screen flat panel television with a surround sound system. Obviously, I have wanted one of these forever, but I got her involved in picking everything out and by the time we made the purchase she was more excited than I was -- in fact she watched the first movie on it, to "test it out"

[side note: I think I actually oversold this purchase. My father in law came over to help me setup the surround sound (run the wires through the wall, etc), he was so excited about the system by the time he left that he purchased the same system on the way home.]

Yeah, we just got one of those too. DVD and home theater, etc. Isn't easy picking that out. A similar package to this:

Can be made by getting:

and the same DVD player.

Fortunately for me, Roseanne is so busy on the various new mommy board she hangs out in she doesn't time for HHO :D.

I ended up getting them from http://www.hobbytron.com seemed the cheapest and hopefully they will be fine. I've been pretty lucky with on-line ordering. Just wait until the wife gets her very own remote controlled car! w00t! She's gonna be sooooo surprised! Really...

So here's what I've learned...

3rd graders are willing to beat eachother in order to get a chance to control one of these cars.

15 month old boys scream louder than they've ever screamed if the car comes anywhere near them. In fact, if it moves (just slightly forward in his direction), he starts freaking out.

The wife, looked at me with one eye squinted, however thinks they're OK after using them and wants to get a few more for gifts.

Chickens think they are the greatest invention ever.

hahahahahahaha.....yup! 15 month old girls can do that too, but patience and gradual intoduction will win them over, just try and get it off him then! :fork: :fork: Hmmmmmm.....perhaps you better let him stay frightened, or you will never get to play with it :p:
