View Full Version : Automatic Recurring (Subscription) Charges

I seriously need help.

We used 2checkout and PaySystems for years, simply because of the convenience of automatic-recurring/subscription-type charges. Every month, the system would take care of everything. We did not have to do batch uploads or such. Then came the PaySystems fiasco.

We already had a merchant account, but did not use it, as it was not compatible with any software in the universe. We have an authorize.net gateway and CDGCommerce merchant account now.

We have an owned license for ModernBill. MB uses a manual batch upload. I don't want to do that. I find ModerBill very difficult to use/setup, also.

We are using WhoisCart now. It does recurring billing via a CRON, but the customers hate it. I also have trouble integrating it with our site. It has promise, but I am not a php programmer. I can't customize the sign-up process. I would like for some packages to appear in some forms on order pages (such as resellers), but not in others (regular hosting, domains, ssl certs, etc.) It seems like all-or-none.

I do not care about automation of setting up accounts and suspending them. However, I do not want to manually run a batch upload for cc charges.

What other billing systems support the recurring charges (NOT recurring invoices) that I yearn for? Something that is easy to use. Something where the customers do not complain when they try to log in to check billing?

Oh for a billing system that looks like PaySystems....Oh for a billing system that is easy to use, like PaySystems.....Oh for a system that will do recurring billing, like PaySystems....but, will not take our money, like PaySystems!

I only want the cake and the ability to eat it, too! :pimp:

I was a little confused by what you said, but if I'm reading this correctly, Lpanel should solve your problems as far as recurring charges

Ah, and here I was, thinking I was waxing poetic regarding PaySystems... :o:

I was trying to specify which kind of recurring billing I wanted. I am finding that people have different definitions of recurring billing:

1) The billing system automatically sends out an invoice each month, but does not automatically charge the customer's credit card. The customer has to click a link or log in to pay.

2) The billing system automatically sends out an invoice each month, and the webhost then performs a batch upload to the merchant gateway. The webhost then has to keep track of which charges went through successfully and which one did not.

3) The billing system automatically charges the customers' credit cards each month, with nothing to be done on my part. The customer is sent an invoice/receipt automatically. If the charge does not go through successfully, the system automatically tries again in a few days.

I want option #3.

Lpanel does that to my knowledge, but if it fails, I think it flags the user and gives them X number of days before it suspends them

Hello.

Might I suggest eProcessing Network as a gateway to handle your automated recurring billing. Also if at any time you have any questions or concerns you can contact tech support at CDGcommerce for further assistance and we would be happy to help you out!

I hope this is helpful.

We did all of the above too. 2checkout & Paysystems and of course PayPal. Now we try to run everything manually. Literally standing at the cash register and running the charges through Quicken Point of Sale software.
