Does anyone have a burner that can do this?

http://www.lightscribe.com/
JUST HOW DOES IT WORK?

How can you burn a label onto your disc right from your computer? Suppose you have just created a music CD of your favorite songs. Now you want to make a label that contains the song titles, artists' names, and some personal information and design elements to make it special.

Burn your tracks onto the data side of the disc. Flip the disc over to the label side and put it back in the drive. Burn your label by opening your favorite LightScribe-enabled label-making software and going to the CD template work area. Now you do all of your creative design work-imported pictures, copy, and artwork. When you are satisfied with what you have done, click "print." It really is that simple! No ink, no messy markers, no clumpy adhesive labels . just an amazingly beautiful label right before your eyes.
Looks pretty cool, though CompUSA has a 10 pack of 52x CD-R for $5 ($3 off their regular price), so it ain't cheap.

A friend has it, he bought the drive here:

It''s really cool how it works.

Hmmmm, I guess color and DVD are coming (not sure when). Comments said it burns the labels slowly (30 minutes?), but I suppose if you aren't in a rush...

Neat anyhow.

You can always try something like this:

If you don't need all the bells and whistles (prints fast! - I tried it out at Staples the other day).

That's an interesting little bugger. I hadn't seen that before.

I should mention that I'm a cd-label virgin. Aside from the good ol' sharpie (which meets my needs, heh, but that's not the point), I've never even printed on stickers and stomped them on discs. Nor have I tried the discs which can be ink jetted.

CD-Labels aren't good as they can cause problems. Either use sharpie markers or print them on w/ a printer. That casio looks good, so tempted!

Hey i got a new lite-on dvd-rw drive with lightscribe and it is fantastic but i was wondering what would happen if u wrote on the cd with a sharpie (because u didnt want to spend the time creating a label) and like a week later decide u want to print one on? what would happen? would it mess up the drive? would it still show the sharpie on the disk with a pattern?

Someone told me that if you don't have any lightscribe disks you can use a piece of bread and it makes really nice toast.

the light scribe discs function the same fasion as film... there is a reactive coating on top of the disk... although not as sensitive... but i am willing to bet if you put marker on the disc, it wouldnt mess up the drive but would just not scribe over the marker... but it would be cool if it worked... cause then you can do color discs before the color discs come out( which is what i am waiting for) well let me know if someone tries it... :tramp:

I have a Samsung 18x dual layer dvd-r with Litescribe. Honestly, it's more hassle than help. Since I burn a lot of DVDs and CDs, it is just an extra step you have to do.

Although, it does produce some nice results...
