Just to clear up something... is it first and second or first and third? Your post says both...

Would you think about taking a job where you earn 60% of payment that the client that you bring in for the first month, than 20% afterwards?

The percentage may go up depending on how much sales you make.

Are these clients that I have to track down or are they directed to your website?

If I have to hunt them all down myself I wouldn't be interested.

If you're looking for someone to drive your marketing program that would be a possibility.

thank you,
Sean

Sean:

Wouldn't this be a potential conflict of interest since you are running your on hosting company?

In a market where a "hosting" company will sell someone a reseller plan, and then provides them with a dedicated server to grow into, essentially supplying their own competition with equipment and service. In a market that huge, I very much doubt that my owning a hosting company will ever seriously conflict with a client, past or present. Chances are more likely that I will buy colo space or license control panel software from my larger clients.

Furthermore, just as reputable hosting companies don't make a practice of trying to take clients from their resellers. I would not try and steal customers from someone I provide support for. It would be counter productive to my business. Not to mention unethical, immoral, and against my nature.
