I always hate having to post in fear of moderators on forums who will take off a post they deam as being put into the irrelevant category. I think that time should be spent on legitimate spammers.......

Most of your posts have been fine, however we provide thirteen free advertising offers forums (http://hosthideout.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70) which we encourage members to use instead of promoting their sites and services on the main forums ("main forums" being anything other than the advertising forums). Any and all advertising must be limited to these areas and forums. Additionally, we permit members to network and ask other members if they can PM or email an offer (please ask before you do, if the request was made outside our request forums (http://hosthideout.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72)).

Personally, I don't think that's unreasonable.

There's no need to live in fear, so long as you understand and follow one simple rule: If you are posting your URL or discussing your services or products, it should be in response to a post submitted to the advertising forums. You may not post your URL or offer your services or products on the main forums.

In other words if someone asks, "Where's a good place to advertise?"
You don't post, "My site!"

I don't distinguish legitimate spammers from illegitimate spammers ;) :D

Allow me to poke in here. By making sure that threads are posted in the *relevant* category, we actually make this place more useful and easy-to-navigate for end-users like you. Who would want to walk into a bookstore and find only vacuum cleaners and gardening tools there? ;)

Ya know, it is really quite simple, read the rules before you signup in any forum. Then if the rules suit you, go ahead and click submit. After that, take some time reading forum descriptions, which usually give you an indication of what can be posted where.

This is all forums, from hosting forums to bird watchers anonymous forums. :P They all have guidelines of some description. Make it easy on yourself and the mods to take a bit of time getting to know the place :)

I'm sure many of us have had posts removed for one reason or another. I know I have and being a mod here doesn't mean I haven't run into a problem or two elsewhere. I'm sure I even had some posts removed here prior to becoming a mod. Mistakes can happen. Hopefully they aren't big mistakes and regardless of what was done, make sure it doesn't happen again. That seems to work the best in my experience. ;)
