View Full Version : Restart now?

So I'm updating this computer (the one I'm typing on, Windows updates) and the computer must be restarted for the changes blah blah, and this annoying reminder keeps popping up every few minutes...
Restart Now? Restart Later?
Of course I choose Restart later, as I'm typing this now, but that doesn't seem to satisfy it. Every few minutes it asks again, like an annoying child. Apparently "later" is few minutes from now and over and over again. No "remind me in 2 houres" option, etc.
I will find out how to disable it... soon.
You have to thank the idiots of the world for that.
What happened was idiots would download the updates, but would hit the "I'll restart later" option and never be presented with it. Then, they wouldn't reboot and their system would get infected and they'd blame Microsoft stating that the updates didn't protect them like they were suppose to.
So, it's gonna keep bugging you until you reboot lol.

Ah! You've fallen victim of Microsofts Power!

Robert, you're a hoot. Chicken, you have automatic updates on did you initiate this yourself?
Robert, you're a hoot.
I don't give a hoot what you think!
Remember this old joke:
Windows has detected a key press.
You must reboot for the changes to take effect.

I'm particular to this one...
Error: Keyboard not found. Press any key to continue.

I have it download the updates and then bug me that it downloaded them from time to time. Then I manually install them, but once it installs them, that is where this prompt kept coming (asking me to reboot).
Thank goodness that hell is over.... for now!
Try this: Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc -> Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations.

Blohm, I'll have to keep that handy next time it is an issue. Seems that all has been well... lately... but one never knows. Thanks (and welcome to HHO)! :D
