Alot of my personal website customers seem to be opening thier own hosting companys. Is that happening for anyone else? And if so i belive if you offered a good reseller plan or 2 your customers will stay and you can make quite a profit by them switching to a higher priced plan.

It is a common opinion that reselling is good money these days. I don't know that I would bank on it for all my profit though.

Most of our customers do hosting - some on their own hardware Collocated with us, many from their reseller accounts etc - depends on if you cater for design-agencies and hosts, or the end-user.

We are seeing at lot of hosts springing up from no-where who believe the .net magazine adverts saying "run your own hosting business for just 2.99/month" all of whom think that they have to offer the world in terms of disk & transfer for tuppence in order to compete, and most of whom last about 6 months if they're committed !

There is nothing wrong with being a reseller, I know some very successful ones, who care about their business, their clients and get word-of-mouth clientelle because of it.

But this pervasive myth that web-hosing is easy ca$h, and you can make millions with just a cheap CPanel/WHM account are IMHO bogus and simply harms the industry as a whole.

If you find a number of your clients are growing into hosts - why not cater for that with reseller and dedicated server plans to suit their needs - let them gain from your experiences ...

Since the reseller market improving like crazy including FREE 24/7 anonymous helpdesk support and so on anybody can start their own hosting company for literally nothing since they get the billing system for free, free support and all they have to do is promote the hosting plan. :[:

Since almost everyone has more than one domain name reseller accounts or multi-domain accounts are in high demand. It looks like their own hosting but it is the demand to control more than one domain. Adjust your business model by offering those services eventually.
