Hey all -- I just got unofficial word that Hosting Tech Magazine has folded :(. I hope that this is not true, I really enjoyed the magazine -- but my source is pretty reliable.

That would be unfortunate indeed. Though it was geared towards larger companies and featured larger companies, it was always an interesting read.

Yes, that has always been one of my criticisms of the magazine, with so many small hosts out there, they really focused on the larger companies.

I always tried to contrast large versus small companies in articles, with varying success. I guess we will know for sure soon.

That's a real shame. I actually look forward to getting my fix of HT every month. I specifically enjoyed that they targetted large companies, because one day all of them will be looking up at me and wonder why they feel so small (and I'm only 5'8"). Now I'm not so sure...

At any rate, it is a real bummer to see them go. :(

That sux. They seemed to be doing quite well on the advertising sales. That's too bad. I enjoy(ed) reading that magazine. :(

Too bad. I only just started getting Hosting Tech last month.

So is there any other magazine out there that is related specifically to the hosting industry?

They did seem to be the biggest advertiser in the magazine. We'll see what happens...

I hear there is a new hosting magazine coming out within the next month or so. As I get information, I'll pass it along here. It is supposed to be targeted for the small to middle sized hosts, which is the majority of the hosting biz anyways.

No, it's not the majority, but it's certainly the noisiest.. ;)

Looks like some one did buy up hosting tech (guess who) and WHT is going to be going through some interesting changes:

It will be interesting to see all that power concentrated under one editorial umbrella. Not that Robert has ever been anything but fair and even-handed, but it is definitely a lot of communication power.

Oh no...then that would mean a 24 hour hosting news network (hnn) and cheesy movies about hosting starring Patrick Duffy and other second rate actors :D. Of course, it would also mean an epic mini-series about the founding of RackShack with Mel Gibson playing the role of Robert Marsh :D.

Don't laugh too hard... stranger things have seen the light of day..

I can see the movie title now - "THE WEBHOST" - [or maybe "SERVERS"] accompanied by some serious orchestral manoeuvres...

Sure, and Robert and his "crew" have to defend the company and the data center from the Web Hosting Mafia -- who try to run him out of business so he will no longer offer low-cost high quality hosting.

The movie will have to have some good taglines:

"This time, its personal hosting!"
"I'll be backing up"
"They drew first hack, not me"
"Ten million web hosts, and I gotta kill one with servers smaller than my sister"
