I'm in the market for an inexpensive laser printer, sub $200 I think (unless there's one for $210 that really blows the others away). I've read a few things on some of the models, but does anyone have...
Samsung ML-1740 (http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/reviews/5429/1/) ($79.98 this week after rebates)
Brother HL-2040 ($99 after $50 MIR)
Brother HL-5140 ($199)
Canon MF3110 3-in-1 (http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_ImageClass_MF3110/4505-3159_7-31200505.html?tag=tab) ($199 after $50 MIR)
Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W (http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/reviews/5253/1/) ($99)
Any links to sites which tell which to get, or better yet, actual experience, would be wonderful. I know some are more expensive due to toner cartiridges, and that's a concern. Opinions welcome as well :D

There also seems to be the Brother HL-1435 and Brother HL-1440 Laser Printers which seem to be about the same price (each), and under $150.
and the Samsung ML-1450
and the Samsung ML-2250 (my father might have this one, not sure)
Here at home I have a Samsung ML-2152W Printer (High end, wireless, ethernet, etc) and it's great. It does everything I need (duplex, 21 ppm, etc) and never let me down. I would without a doubt in my mind recommend the Samsung or the brother as the brother makes great quality printers and fax machines (MFC) as well.
As far as the toner runs, my toner is $149 dollars and it yields 8,000 pages the current toner I have is a 4,000 page and it's the original one that came w/ the printer when I purchased it back oh some 1 year ago. My color inkjet costs me $69 every 6 months and slow to print.
I looked at the cost for the toner of the printers you listed and they are all under $100. The samsung was around $78 (OfficeDepot) and the Brothers were around $59 (OfficeDepot).
I would highly recommend the Samsung based on my experience with my printer. I have had no problems with it and am truly satisfied. It's a great printer made with quality parts. But you can't go wrong w/ the brother either.

I received the Samsung ML 1450 for my birthday a couple of years ago and am quite happy with it. It seems to do well on toner, I keep it in toner save mode most of the time, and it still prints very well, and seems to save quite a bit of toner. I am actually still using the "beginner" catridge that came with the printer.
My one problem that I have had is that it often has trouble grabbing paper that has been loaded into the manual tray. It is easy enough to just put the paper into the top of the actual paper tray, which works well for paper, but I don't advise putting sheets of labels in there. I just end up using my HP inkjet when I need to print labels.
I do know that my 1450 was purchased online, but do not know if it can still be purchased online.

Yeah, I just realized that the Samsung ML-1450 is an older model and probably hard to find now. That helps narrow it down I suppose.ML-1450
HL-1440
While looking at these, the names of the printers are driving me nuts. Hard to keep it all straight. Listed above are a Samsung and a Brother product.

Robert mentioned the toner and that might be something to consider as well. I'm not sure if you are using that as part of the deciding factor but I'd look at cost to replace the toner and how many pages you'll get out of each. At least to help the decision a little bit. As for me I've pretty much been an HP guy. ;) I do like the models you listed though but don't have much experience with any of them.

It's very important to note that OfficeDepot and Brother may not honor the rebate if you use a $30 off cpn as you are not paying the original price listed.

They better, as I bought the Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer for $68AR at Office Depot yesterday! Thanks Brian S. Worst case scenario though is that I ended up buying one of the ones I was considering, from the place I was going to buy it anyway.

As I said, it's 50/50. I see a lot of customers get denied by OD because of that (I work for Office Depot as a CSR at their call center).
Good luck and enjoy!
I <3 Laser Printers.

Man, if I would have known that I would have called you to place the order! I know, they make it impossible to call you, and you can't call out, but...
The rebate seems to be from Brother (not OD) so I don't know why they'd deny it.

I bought an HP LaserJet 4L more than 10 years ago (for more than $1,000 back then) and am still using it once in a while on my other computer. Its quality has been excellent, even by today's standard (I hate inkjet). The only shortcoming is that their cartridge now costs $100 each!

But it lasts a long time. My toner is $149 and does 8,000 sheets. I think the HP 4L is the same. I use the 4L at work, it's old and takes a while to warm up, but it's great!

Well, it pumped out the thesis no problem, which is nice. I actually could use it at work, more than at home, though it's always annoying to buy stuff because work was too cheap to get something decent. They gave us what must be the lowest and slowest model Epson inkjet. Thing takes forever to print a page (let alone 20 if I'm trying to print something for all the students), and as an added bonus, it has a small ink cartridge (which they sometimes even buy for us, but not always).
