Paying money to advertise

Is it worth it to pay money to advertise, online, or even in the newspaper?

It all depends on the market you are targetting. Even in newspapers is a good option. But if you do not target the right audience, you won't see any results. Personally I find that SEO is the best form of advertising (for websites) and also FREE! (unless you take into account the hours one needs to spend optimising a site)

Pay-per-click search engines are a good advertising option, but specifically for web hosting you end up paying up to $6 per click and even more in some cases.
