If you're using ModernBill what would be better authorize or Paysystems they're making the paysystems module.. The good thing is this.

- Authorize Has Good Rates
- It works with just anything.
- You get your money faster
- Takes 72 hours or more to get approved.

PaySystems

- Has High Rates
- It doesn't work with alot
- You don't have to wait a week to get approved.

To be quite honest, there are different opinions but it just comes down to experience of an individual with a company. Some say paysystems is nice and some say its not. (by the way paysystems is currently pissing off its customers by adding some $1 donation box for clients payment page and is currently being DDoSed). Authorize.net is just a gateway. It just depends on how much you will be expecting to do and what chances are of frauds etc. But once again your experiences can only judge the decision. Anyhow good luck!

I'm assuming that you're talking about Paysystems' merchant account (IMA service), and not their IBA service, which is a total solution.

As mentioned below, Paysystems has added an opt-out donation link to all payment pages. This link donates USD$1 to Charity-donation.com, which is a company which Paysystems will use to funnel money through to cancer research. All well and good...but clients are going to howl, because the link looks as if the hosts placed it there. The opt-out factor is a bit underhanded, as well, in my opinion. I was very happy with Paysystems until this latest debacle hit. Now I'm thinking that, until I reach the break-even point between gateway vs. 3rd party cc processor, 2checkout is looking semi-attractive.

Getting your own merchant account is a good idea for many reasons. Not the least of which is regarding the holdback. As you know, your cc processor will hold back anywhere from 5-10% to protect against any future chargebacks. They hold it for 3-6 months, depending on who you use.

The problem comes up if they ever go belly up. If you use someone like Paysystems or 2CO, you will never see your holdback money, since the bank does not recognize you. They only recognize the merchant (eg Paysystems). You are simply making use of their merchant status to process your sales.

OTOH, when you get a real merchant account, your holdback is always yours. The bank officially recognizes you as the merchant.

It sort of sounds like you answered your own question.

Seriously, go with ModernBill and their ModernAuthorize combo. We're quite happy ;
