NewEgg doesn't have a low profile fan I'd use. I'm thinking a Coolermaster 1U low profile or a Thermaltake with a copper core should do it.. Should I use thermal paste or a thermal pad on this setup? Any recommendations on more cooling?
thanks for the feedback..

yes, that's a pretty nice little setup. only things I'd change would be, spend $7 more per stick and get some decent memory. I think you can get crucial for $79 off newegg.
where do you plan on co-lo'ing it at?

IDE 2 x UDMA ATA 100/66 Bus Master IDE up to 4 Devices
I would personally go with a board that supports a minimum of ATA 133 if you are going to use IDE drives. If it were me I would go with SATA 10k drives or SCSI so you have the fastest data throughput. I agree with omaha that you should definately upgrade to the Crucial memory, it has a better warranty and the quality is nice. I run Crucial in several of my boxes here and have never had a problem with it or Kingston. I also tend to lean towards 2u cases over 1u due to heating and the ability to add extra drives down the road. You are quite limited with the 1u cases. Just my 2cp worth.

yeah, you can run into problems with heat in cheaper chasis. but I've NEVER had a problem with a supermicro chasis. So if you're worried about heat and want to stay 1u, I would recommend supermicro ....
supermicro > *
but imo, (and what do I know ;) ) you want to try and stay 1u as you're going to pay less for space, therefore being a more cost effective solution.
heh.
Yeah, supermicro's are great and so are EverCase. I've actually went ahead and purchased this setup:

I decided to go ahead and get a 512K cache CPU instead of a 1Mb Cache to prevent cooling issues in the future..

That case looks nice. It could probably use some more fans on the inside. The front vents are huge. Do you think that will lead to more dust on the inside?
Shouldn't.. it's going to be in a locking rack in a good DC. But yeah EverCase makes quality cases.
