I want to start a company...

So I know what I want to do, but I don't know exactly how to do it. Well, I want to start a game server company. For anybody who plays online multiplayer games you will probably know what I am talking about. For those who don't, it's a company that rent's out game server for a monthly fee to people. Some reputable game server companies you may have heard of are www.recongamer.com, www.gamedaemons.com, www.griffinrun.com, etc. I know that this, just like any other business is a very hard thing to start, and I don't expect to just become an overnight success. Anyway, I wanted to know, what do I need to start off? I don't know much about hosting servers but I am very eager to learn and hope some of you can help me out on the right step. What is some of the hardware I will need? After that, what kind of software programs will I have to use? I plan on renting game servers for games such as Counter-Strike, Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, and others. Any and all help/advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

well first of all it dpends on the game you need hosted.
you will need a computer, one that SHOULD be only used as a game server.

when your customer wants a to host a game server, you will need to get a server appliction for that game.

for example, the game Ultima Online it a MMORPG. (MM = Massively Multiplayer) , anyways, if i wanted to run a server for it, i would need to get a Ultima Online Server. ultima online is pay only, so you need to find a server EMULATOR. like the one at www.runuo.com

for the game they want, you simply need to find a aplliccation gamne server for it. it is a company ho needs the server, they proabbly could give you the server software.

Start by righting a business plan and maybe get some information on other companies

then i suggest that you start with the game. You can either buy a game or create your own game. Well if you go with your own game then the process will be tough and long but it really worth it especially if the game becomes a hit.
