Pentium is intel ;)

This is an age old question of which I'm sure you'll find no difinitive answer. It usually comes down to personal preference.

This is an age old question of which I'm sure you'll find no difinitive answer. It usually comes down to personal preference. I completely agree. I personally would choose AMD but again, that's my preference. Intel isn't bad either (obviously). I just feel that AMD is more than capable of handling everything and I like to put my money into their product more than into Intel's. :)

I have used AMD processors before in home machines and dedicated servers but to be honest I prefer the Intel Pentium & Xeon processors. TO tell you the truth I don't know why! :homer:

There is a great article out there that shows the opteron vs. Xeon, I believe it is at Anand or Tom's Hardware. The Opteron held its own and blew away the Xeon on Memory Bandwidth, Apache, and MySql tests. Pretty sweet for a 2.4ghz AMD vs. a 3.4ghz Xeon.

I know Rus at VPSColo has been really happy with Dually opteron servers performance vs. the Xeon.
