I'm looking at getting an 800 number for my business and wanted to get everyone's opinion on Kall8 (http://www.kall8.com/). I've read several good things about them and when searching Google for 800 number providers, they were one of the first ones to appear. I've heard of them before and the price seems really good. It costs $2/month for having the number plus 6.9 cents per minute.

I was going to signup with Vonage since I have their VoIP home service but they will only forward the calls on the 800 number to a number in my account with them. So it would have to go to my home number which I don't want. I want to forward the 800 number calls to my cellular phone. The only thing I wish they had was a service that also packaged in faxing capabilities. I don't need to send faxes but I want to receive them via e-mail. Right now I'm signed up with K7 for faxes (which is free) but I don't have a local number.

If Kall8 is not a recommended service, does anyone know of something better?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

Two months ago we signed up for Kall8's service and I must say we have been very pleased so far. Albeit, we have not been with them very long, but I cannot think of any problems with the services. The ability to manage everything online and the routing options (unlike locally offered numbers) was the greatest selling points for us. That is just our experience, but I would recommend them to anyone seeking a vanity 800 number.

I have not used this service personally, but you may want to check FaxAway (www.faxaway.com). I believe the rates are $1 per month and $0.11/fax within the US.

Kall8 has some pretty cool controls and seems to do all that you want to do. I have a couple of numbers with them. Real time reporting is great as we had some stalker guy using the 800# to call the house and I ID'ed him when he called and filtered his calls to forward to teh local police dept., heh. It was great seeing those same calls on the screen heading elsewhere. Must have confused the poor idiot.

There is a pretty good list and some discussion about the subject here:

It is about a year old so some of the fees may be a bit dated.

I think I'm going to try out Kall8 after checking out those other sites. For the little I'll need it for, I think it's more than what I need. Thanks for all the responses everyone! :)

Kall8 is just one of those services that continues to amaze me. I currently have four numbers with them, and some of my customers have 50+ numbers with them.

Customer service is real-time on the phone, and very helpful. Billing has always been fair and complete. Their control panel is also great, providing a wealth of features.

Why not just pay the $2 a month and try them out? You have absolutely nothing to lose!

Customer service is real-time on the phone, and very helpful. I gave them a call this afternoon after having a question about picking a number. The call was answered quickly and the person was very friendly. I have signed up and will now just fax in the application tomorrow morning. I can't wait to setup all the features on the account. Well worth it as you mentioned.

Just another vote for them. They work exactly as advertised. I've had no problems. And very reasonable.

Like many of the other webhosts on a budget I too use Kall8 to help me with that 'professional business image' and it rings straight to my cell so I can pick up the call or send it to my voicemail if I am not busy.

I have looked around at many other places and you simply cannot find anything cheaper than $2.00 a month. The 6.9 cents a minute rate was pretty good too.

One note of caution though, I had to change one of my number's once because I kept getting tons of calls from a former account holder 'A blind school in Kentucky' that used to have the number and 'continued' to have it displayed on their website contact and on PDF's available online so the costs were considerable for that account but no problems so far on the new one.

I have heard nothing but praise for Kall8 during my research for a nice 800 number provider. Once we implement phone support into our business, we will most likely choose Kall8.

I've been signed up with Kall8 for a couple of months now and I really enjoy their service. I couldn't imagine using another provider especially with the low price. It's great to see all this positive feedback too. ;)

I have two kall8 numbers and both forward the caller ID right through to my phone display. The only thing that I find a bit annoying about that is that I can't distinguish whether it's a personal call or a client (don't correspond with clients much via phone), so I always have to answer "Thank for calling..."

So if you have multiple 800 numbers routing to the same physical phone you will know how to answer the call. Mine goes to my cell phone and it helps so I don't just answer "Hello..." when I should say something more related to my business. ;) It would be nice to have both options though.

We have been with Freedom Voice for about 6 months now. Extremely pleased with all the services & features that we get from them. I keep learning about new ones every day - I love the one where I can transfer the caller to another extension

Wow, I never realize I could have the toll-free number show instead of actual caller ID data...off I go to enable it.

I've been using Kall8 for two and a half months now and havn't had a single problem. I've been very satisfied with their service.

Yes - all 800 services should offer this. Actually Freedom Voice goes a little bit farther and will collect the addresses as well if you want them

Kall8 has been pretty good and they've been having a lot of promotions lately. Especially on their repeater numbers which we grabbed one for billing support.

Arg, My experience with Kall8 is far from great. The service was excellent, however my number was close to a las vegas travel number...my bill was close to $300.00 last month.

I have been using www.halloo.com (http://www.halloo.com). They let you use a jabber client to get notification of calls so you can see when it is a business call. You can also choose whether the caller ID is the actual caller or your 800 number.

You can get 800 numbers, local numbers and you can upgrade to record live calls.

Wow. Old thread. Anyone who's digging this up should also consider ringcentral.com. Way more features than Kall8.
