Just checked out 2Checkout and learned that they have implemented the DEFT payment option as of mid-September. I have not been using 2Checkout even though I signed up way back in 2002. Their ACH "ate" up $8 of my first sale of $16.51 (net) when it returned with an error. I guess I'll just give them a second chance, esp. when I always feel a bit "shaky" for PayPal. ;)

Okay, they (2Checkout) issued a "high warning alert" re: my first sale there in 2 years, just because it triggers 1 or more of their pre-set criteria:
- Larger Order 300.00 needs checked
- Buyer Changed Card Holder Name
- Buyer Took 3 or more attempts to get the order in
Now they ask the buyer to fax them copies of:
- credit card statement
- state or country ID card
- signature
in order for the order to go through.
Isn't that too tight?
It sure is. That's a lot of effort from the part of the buyer. Not to mention that's rather sensitive info as well that some people will refrain from providing out of principle.

It turns out that this is more than just 2Checkout being difficult. Looks like the buyer (who now owns and is using NameDiscusssion.com) has not been too enthusiastic about paying. Hmm ...
That chances the situation... Good luck tracking him down (I think I saw you posting at WHC).

I finally got my payment after asking around a bit. Let's hope this one will go through. ;)
I currently use 2checkout to accept payment in USD & CAD, and
hopefully GBP soon.
I use it for personal and business use, and I absolutely love it.
Now, just some things to note that caused me a few head aches and
about 5.99 for Asprin:
* If you are in Canada, you MUST have your funds from your 2CO
accounts sent to a Canadian CAD
balance account. This means no US accounts for Canadian vendors.
* For me, payment takes 1 & 1/2 days to get here, on the rare occasion
it bounces back it takes about 2 weeks to go threw the whole cycle again
and get back here.
* If you already have an account with them, contact
risk(a.t)2checkout.com and inform them that you have 2, and you should
be eligible to receive $19.95 off of the setup fee for your first
account. You will still be required to pay the initial setup however.
On a side note, if you have a version 1 account and would like to
upgrade to version 2 you can do so at no cost, by signing up for a new
account and selecting pay with paypal, enter noemail@noemail.com for
the paypal address then contact 2checkout directly after to inform
them that you would like to upgrade your version 1 account to this
version 2 account. Keep in mind ***** they WILL refund all orders on
your old account that have not been passed to your bank account yet.
You may want to check with them about the above information just be be
sure it is accurate.
I don't think friendly is the word... but it will do. I really think
2checkout has changed and they are much more vendor friendly. I am
happy to be with them now, and I wish everyone the best of luck with
them.
I also spoke to one of the representatives and they said they were
working towards offering 24/7 1-800 support, which will be great!
Anyway, I see you have having some issues with them at the moment but
be patient, they have a lot to deal with so don't be a stranger, but
don't abuse them about it cause I doubt it will help anyone.
They do, on occasion, ask for verification information such as bank
statements and so on, but if you know the amount of online fraud there
is going around you may ask for more than that. I really think they
are doing a fine job, but other people feel otherwise.
If you provide them with the requested information or valid
reasons they will usually be very willing and happy to help you get the
issue resolved.

Thanks for the info, nybble. Actually, the problem I mentioned earlier on was more of the buyer than 2Checkout and has since been resolved. I must also say that I quite like their speedy deposit to my Canadian bank account (like in this payment cycle, I got it first thing in the morning on 17th). I guess I'll start using it on a more routine basis, so when anything messes up with PayPal, I still have a backup. ;)
You may also want to note that all sales done up until 2 days before your drop cycle will come to you on that drop. However, a sale on the 15th will not come to you on the 16th.
Best of luck with everything,
Matt
