Hey everyone,

I just found this site from Chickens signature at SitePointForums.
It use to be a chat room site didn't it?

Very nice jobs on the forums, from what I've seen so far, the quality of posts is excellent. I was getting tired of visiting WHT, looks like my new home :)

I look forward to meeting all of you, Matt I already know from HostingJobs :D

Cheers guys,

Steve

Yep, used to be chat (which did really well at first -too well, then died a miserable death). Nice to meet you too Steve and glad you could make it!

I checked out the chat room a few times but there was never anyone around. I think switching the site to forums was a great idea.

Chicken - Nice to meet you as well. Just curious, you must be some type of designer/developer right? I just figured because you're at SitePoint as well. ;)

I teach 3rd grade :D

...and dabble in web design and hosting, but dabble is about all I have time for at this point.

Chicken - you teach third grade?

Well, that explains how you're able to keep your cool in so many situations. You're used to dealing that that level of behaiour....

:D yes. Though it drives me nuts to deal with it at work, and then deal with it when I get home. I love kids, really I do, however it does drive one a bit batty to teach sometimes. During any given lesson, out of 20 kids:

1 won't have the book out, no matter how long you give them to take it out.
2 will have lost the book or left it at home.
1 will have the wrong book out.
2 will be on the wrong page.
4 will be playing with their pencils.
1 will be writing a note.
1 will be playing with a hair band.
2 will be looking in any direction other than the direction you are standing.
4 will be talking.
1 will be telling the ones who are talking to "shut up!"
etc.

-and all but a few will do well on the assignment and ultimately the test.

Chicken: Lol funny, today i was talking to my gf about my anger management and she said teach children, and i asked her why. She told me all that stuff and i told her that just by hearing the horror and impatient moments, i think my anger is managed. You must be have a lot of patience.

I'm not sure teaching control anger. If anything, it drives one more batty. Not to mention that it is just a repeating cycle (as soon as you get the kids where they need to be, school ends and you start all over again with a fresh bunch of victims).

My oldest son is in the 3rd grade so you have my sympathies :)

I can only imagine what a whole classroom of 8-9 year olds is like. I bet you have some laughs, though.
