Hi there,

I am searching for the largest webmaster forums in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK for advertisements. Anyone want's to share  ;) - search results for webmaster forums in the search engines are confusing, and there are so many of them. Which ones are the most known?
Hoping for some input here.

Thanks
John

The main "webmaster" forum that comes to mind is Sitepoint. I am sure there are many others though.

I think the largest is WebHostingTalk.com with 36,000 members.

My goal is to eat Sitepointforums for lunch. When I started at WHT, we had approximately 350 members. I joined SP as a moderator and it was larger than WHT (much). After leaving SP (long story), I was intent on making WHT bigger and although I can't and won't say *I* made it bigger, I'd like to think I helped.

Speaking out of my a** I'd say bigger is not better, about 4 to 5,000 members sounds like a good size where you would get your posts answered and wouldn't have much fighting, rudness and other such party spoilers. WHT is ok but HHO seems to be more mellow and easygoing, prolly cause lots of folks have graduated to it from WHT.

I could not imagine a forum with say... 100,000 members!

Well i could, it'd be chaos!

The amount of moderation and work that will have to go into forums of such a large size would probably surpass the capabilities of that board an dend up being shutdown or pinned with a reputation.

HHO is of a nice size and i think 10k members maximum to make decent forums but yeah i agree with bravo to say that 4-5,000 is a perfect size :)

Hows this for my first post?

It does seem a lot more mellow here than at WHT :D

I've been browsing the forums a little bit and unlike WHT not every forum seems to be filled with someone getting bashed and others fighting over various things...

Thus the reason why I say avoid WHT. Mainly kids trying to make a buck.

I don't think the point for being successful is having as many members as you can.

I think having more professionals is the point.
These days all i see on WHT is bunch of little kids.
HHO is a great place :D

I don't think having professionals is necessarily the key to a successful forum. Having a membership that bonds and creates a living community is best, IMO. People who respect on another and put the community first.
