Please suggest a live chat program that does not include addons like support tickets and the like or at least gives me the option to turn that feature off. I hate finding tickets open all over the place instead of the actual help desk.

thanks,

Can't tell you when the next version will be released but Help Center Live (http://www.helpcenterlive.com) will have the trouble tickets & FAQ either off completely or a switch to turn them off.

Yea, I use HCL in the past. IIRC, it currently has the ticket link that won't go away.

Maybe I can point it at the help desk....

Any else?

Well, since I see no pricing, I'd say Groopz (http://www.groopz.com) as they are the makers of DigiChat and is a good software so I have seen. You can turn the Knowledge Base off and such.

From looking at the site, it appears to be one of those "If you have to ask for the price, you can't affoard it" pieces of software.

I'll find out for you and let you know, I am not sure if it's high priced, but I dont think it's under $100.

$100? I could eat for a month (well, three weeks maybe) for that much.

I'll stick with the free ones, thank you. :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

DigiChat (or whatever their parent company is) is EVIL! And Drmike is right, if you have to ask you can't afford it, and I doubt anything they make is worth it (based on my experiences with DigiChat). I'd be surprised if they offer anything under $1,000.

EVIL I tell you!

It's not your fault they are the evil ones. Just be sure that you don't look directly into its eyes and you'll be OK.

I also had that feeling that requesting a quote made it out of my price range. :) I don't mind paying for something but that just gave the wrong feeling.

Probably marketing to CEO's/ CIO's/ and whatnots. They see the price, think that it's cheap comparied to other pieces of software that they're bought in the past, and tell their IT people to buy that one.

How many customers have we seen who are in shock over what little most of us charge for web space when they compare it to places like Yahoo/ Geocities now a days? Same idea....

(Or these server farms who charge $1100/ month for a server unmanaged that we offer for less than $300 managed?)

www.boldchat.com, I found that, great software, you install the windows component on your home pc and put a little bit of javascript on your site and voila, easy.

I currently host my own php live help server, but my server connection is not very reliable. In the mean time I use a free account from akeni as a backup system. you can try their free service by going to their web site at http://www.akeni.com

sign up a free account from http://www.akeni.com/en/livehelp/livehelpfree.php

We work pretty well with liveperson...

Some companies have IM support (AOL, Messenger and Yahoo). THis is the cheapest way to do it. Others claim it's unprofessional but I don't see anything wrong with it.

Fantastico autoinstaller in cPanel offers a lot - crafty syntax, help center live, etc.
