I think HHO should sell banner space on the board, I mean a simple header and footer banner (don't liter the site with banners like other places).
It would be a good way for Chicken to earn some money for running this great forum.
Been suggested and rejected many times.
Chicken refuses to make money.
Chicken...don't look at it as making $$ but as being reimbursed for your time. It could also go to help fund some projects for HHO (like a professional button, skin design, logo design, t-shirt design).
I want a HHO T-shirt :-(
I'd be up for helping design some HHO T-Shirts.

Errrmmm... well, that wouldn't be very professional would it?
We need a contest for a design, a t-shirt, maybe some banners, and yes I'd like to get some advertising going so we could have some fun contests and nicer prize giveaways (just for being a member). I bought the first *one* (I shall not tell you what it is yet), but I honestly couldn't keep that up, and I'd like to get some better, techno-geeky toy type things (which can cost quite a bit).
I'm working on a an email to members which will announce advertising opportunities to members, the prize I bought for one of you (who will it be?), and the usual begging for additional prizes (got something you could offer our members?) and eventually contestants to win those prizes. We're all here, might as well have a bit of fun while we're at it.
As you said, just simple advertising banners at top and/or bottom, plus maybe stickies (we seem to get a bunch of requests for these). I don't like flashing buttons all over the place either, and I'm here too often to be annoyed by them. :D
aren't stickies those graphics that blend in with the page usually dead center and you can never find the close button on them and they always cover what you're trying to read?

Makes a lot of sense, hmmmm, well think about it, banner display would violate the SPAMMING rule, simply said.
