Well, What you'd recommend 'ModernBill' or 'ClientExec'

ClientExec has my vote!

Even though ModernBill has much more functionality than CE, I still prefer the less clutter, easy navigational and application structure that it has.

Still needs some much needed items but it is a solid application which can only get better.

Note: I haven’t tried either just saying what i have heard.

If you chose Modernbill, some people find it too complex and go for less featured systems like ClientExec Phpmanager whois cart whmaup etc.

So I would try the demo of clientexec (they don't do a trial) and the mondernbill trial to see which best fits your needs.

I'd choose one that would integrate into the control panel. I'm not sure if client exec does this yet, but modern bills integrates with several control panels. If you choose a control panel with a billing system already integrated (such as hsphere from your other thread) then you shouldn't need to purchase another.

Clientexec is a great program, and integrates with Cpanel. Although it is in early stages still, it offers alot of features and is easy to use.


I haven't used modernbill but they do have a trial on their website to test it out.

Modernbill integrates perfectly with cpanel, although reseller account creation is limited but easy to get around by manually creating the account for the reseller (You can still stick the domain with extra information into the customer information).

I haven't really used Modernbill, so my recommendation is biased. But I have used a couple and find ClientExec to be great. I would recommend it.

I would definetly go with Lpanel :-p but since that's not one of the options, I would go with WHM.AP, but once again, that's not one of the options, next in line is ClientExec :-P

Clientexec for low amount of customers
ModernBill for large amounts of customers or for experinced users

I would like CE, but MB has many more server features. MB has made a serious effort in server integration. CE has a very clean interface. If CE did a bit more on the server integration side it would be one top notch product. So if you CE people are reading this. Get to work improving your server integration and you will have my vote.

That is INSTALLATION. Thats the easy part. Configuring it is what we all think is a pain.

Its a very good billing system though.

I think that clientexec is easy to use but it lacks some features I would like to recommend modernbill as it provides some special features, integrates well & is quite a powerful client management solution. :sun:

Sign up for a trial if the billing software allows it. Set it up on your server and play with it, test it from both an admin and customer perspective!

I perfer clientexec better than modern bill. However we have recently changed over to accountlab plus from clientexec and we love it.

Over those two softwares, I would prefer ClientExec due to its graphical easy-to-use interface, however, we use Ubersmith.

We currently use ClientExec and am very happy with them. We haven't experienced any problems and find the software easy to use and maintain.

It is much less bloated than ModernBill and easier to setup in my opinion.

Both are great peices of software but the choice between the two depends on the users specific needs.

I have both MB and CE. I found that CE is easier to use and the customers prefer it over MB; however, MB is definately more functional. The new CE comes out soon and will support Plesk and cPanel plugins, which makes the deal perfect for me.

I will personally vote for modernbill as after few customization you will find there is nothing better than MB and with the V5 release its really rocking :)

ClientEXec for us here. Tried a few others but came back to CE. May look at Modernbill but never really gave it much thought.
