Another quest - I am trying to understand this concept of FreeDNS. I understand where to get the service, how to use it and also to get MX records to work for email...no problem - But if I had my own set of IP's (which I do..) and ask my ISP to create name servers - I would be able to host using my own name servers...pretty simple. Now - if I want to offer the service of FreeDNS like the other websites I have seen on the net (without saying names) - how is this done? What type of software is involved & what sort of cost - is there any "open source" stuff or "freeware" for the use of experimentation?

This call for help is for the purpose of understanding this & if you know the answer or have a link to share - please submit -

Why not just set it up through your control panel? Doesnt seem like it would be that difficult to setup a plan with just a bunch of parked domains and DNS zone access unless I missed something here. You should be able to do this with most control panels.

Will this absorb bandwidth - the idea is to have a "back-up" to when the main server goes down + to see if I can host from the office.
