Greetings:

If you are going to use the server for Web hosting, is there any reasons why to go with the Windows 2003 Standard edition over the Windows 2003 Web edition?

If so, what are the reasons?

Thank you.

ICF would be nice to have, but in most cases won't be worth the price difference. That pretty much just leaves wanting more than 2 gigs of RAM.

Well it's still in Beta. I'm not a big windows fan anymore though ;).

It's not in beta. OEM kits shipped a few weeks ago. Anyhow, the Web Edition is crippled in several ways - no MS Media Server, no UDDI Web Services. Not that you would want to do this really, but you can't load MS SQL Server on it either.

Also, you technically will have to use a third party FTP server, as the Web Edition includes no licenses for any authenticated users.
