LOL

haha, I love changing my own oil, and everything sounds right except the DUI and impound and jail fees :D But it is great, buy 6 quarts of oil, new filter, and a case of beer. Sit out in the sun on a nice day and change the oil at your own pace :D

Not to mention a DUI jacks your insurance up. I know my insurance company would throw my policy out the window and tell me "cya!" Changing oil depending on the car isn't too bad. I know here there's a place called oil can henry's (not sure if it's a national deal) and they sell synthetic cheaper then what you can find it at autozone, checkers, or pep boys. Tried to take my bike there though and they wouldn't change it :-(.

Last time I checked Jiffy Lube was a minimum of $39.99 -- that's before they call you out of the waiting room and show you something that may or may not have come from your car and tell that your owners manual (the one sitting unread in your glove compartment) recommends you change this thing every 10,000 miles -- and it will only be an extra $40 and, oh, by the way when was the last time you had your transmissioned degaussed, that's only another $80.

On the other hand, the coffee is free :D.

Apparently, I use the most honest (and cheap at $24.95) Jiffy Lube in all the land!

And transmissions need to be degaussed??? That explains why my Yugo got stuck in reverse just before the engine seized. Man, who says you don't learn nuthin' on the Internet!

I'm glad my husband doesn't use the oil change instructions for men! (not a drinker) But he does do all our car work himself. And its always done right :D

I've always did the oil change myself for all of my cars. Its not that hard... even for a chick ;)

I remember one time I changed the oil in one of my cars, and I asked my then boyfriend if I could borrow his jack stands, and he wouldn't let me borrow them, because he was afraid that if I got under the car, the car would slip off the jack stands, and right onto me. Oy! He was totally stupid when it came to cars... That was a fun oil job I did then... trying to slide under a car with all 4 tires are on the ground... (that's not an easy task when you're female! hehe).

Sadly, spot on. I stopped changing my oil due to this. When one has nothing better to do, it's a great experience, but I have too many things to do now and would rather be done in 15 minutes.

Well by my house here in Chicago, Jiffy lube sucks, so I use a Valvoline Oil change place. Same price about, better service.

I'm with you Chicken. Jiffy Lube in Ontario charges $19.95 and it takes about 15 minutes. Not worth the trouble for me to do.
