View Full Version : Suggestion (for members) : Clickable URLs in Sigs

Hi all! One thing I noticed is that many members seem to have non-clickable URLs in their signatures. I thought I take a moment to post a mini how-to, so to speak, in case people just didn't know how to make their URLs clickable. Here goes...

Simple clickable URL...
http://www.hosthideout.com

Code (take out the periods)...
[.URL=http://www.hosthideout.com]http://www.hosthideout.com[./URL]

More fancy with words instead...
HostHideout.com (http://www.hosthideout.com)

Code (take out the periods)...
[.URL=http://www.hosthideout.com][.B][.COLOR=orange]HostHideout.com[./COLOR][./B][./URL]

Super fancy-schmancy with bold and two colors...
HostHideout.com (http://www.hosthideout.com)

[.URL=http://www.hosthideout.com][.B][.COLOR=orange]Host[./COLOR][.COLOR=red]Hideout.com[./COLOR][./B][./URL]

Anyhow, you get the idea. I personally like clickable links, and it seems everyone has been adult enough not to go crazy sick with the colors (people are generally turned off by that just F.Y.I.). Please note that the SIZE tag cannot be used, unless you are going smaller, which is fine. Hope this helps...

Thanks for reminding me Chicken.
I was going to do that the other day to clean up my sig, and I forgot.

Actually, yours is what kept reminding me to post something like this, heh. It's nto mandatory, just thought some people might have forgotten how to do it, or just didn't realize we permit it.

Hi Chicken,

Thanks for that, only just signed up here and remembered this time, but usually when I go on a forum I forget that you can usually use vB Code in sigs :D

Thanks

Great idea. This is a test to see how well I follow instructions.

You get an A++ for following directions, though I had to subtract a letter grade because you handed in your signature on crumpled paper with coffee stains.

ServerCircle, this is what I figured many probably do.

Very good suggestion Chicken! I don't particularly like using copy and paste to visit someone's website. A simple click is much easier! :)

I hope many users will act as you suggested!

I was checking for 'signatures' to see what the limit was and found this thread. Good basic 'how to' that should help many people.

I have 4 urls - is that Ok?

Anyway, I find that most forums do not have it in their faq's.
Then they get upset when you have 4 instead of 1 or none.

:)

richiep, four URL's is fine. The main limits we try to keep set are up to four lines and no pricing information in signatures. But you are fine with the way your signature is. :)

Thanks for clarifying.

Just make sure you check the status bar before you click a link, as it might be redirecting to a unwanted site.
