I've been thinking over the thought of setting up my own professional site for myself, since I've gotten a few article writting jobs here and there.

I'm not talking about anything big, maybe just a spot where I can talk a little bit about myself, a resume, maybe some example work or list of folks I'm working for currently. What do you folks think? Am I right on track, or overshooting myself a little bit?

Also, if I'm writting about web hosting, I'd like to be able to stay, "in the know" and not become rusty with new inovations comming in.. so another thought is getting it for something I can play with installing new things, and staying in, "fighting shape" in the web hosting buisness.

Why not. Just find the time and publish the site. ;)

Go for it. Web hosting is cheap for small sites all you need is the time to make it and upload it.

Personally i would say go for it, as you can say to your publishers and also your customers you kn0ow where you are coming from as you have been in the community and not a spectator and not know the full inside story. So feel free to start your own website ;) Plus i would say go for a small plan to start off,

Create your own site and write articles for it. With a little effort you can make more money from this site than from writing articles for other people...

I'd say go for it. It will help you build credibility - and gain new clients as well.

You know, I think everyone should have a site. Web sites should be considered like journals these days with a piece of security attached so that people cannot stalk you if they like! :pimp:

Move on my friend! :flowers: :dchick2:

I agree with everyone so far...They're really cheap and they can be fun. Besides, maybe one day your articles will become the 'cool' thing to read and then you can make thousands on Adsense or some other program. :D

If you don't have a website up now aday's you are falling behide. You will be able to find hosting for like 4.95/month and you can buy a domain (.com) for about $8/year Avg.

You can even get them for cheaper. I've seen sites selling domains for about $4.95 and hosting as cheap as $2.00, however you never know how reliable they are.

just find a good host, and if ur not confident in ur own abilities to design a site, hire one

I agree with everyone else here, if your looking to move into the world of online articles and pursuing that as an addition to your services, than you will need a website in which to display it to potential clients. A portfolio along with a client status area would be a nice touch. I know my wife's engineering firm provides clients login access to review current progress and development, allowing them to communicate more effectively. Especially considering the size of some of their files.

But like everything else, anything worth doing is worth doing right, so if you don't have the design abilities, hire a designer, put your creativity into it, and what a client might want to see from your site, update it frequently, and continue perusing the forums to keep "in the know"

Thanks,

How about blogging? It is free and you can express yourself too and if you love writing, you can write as many blog site as possible. You spent nothing but you enjoy your passion in your writing useful articles for others...

You should definetly go for it. Internet is a bundle of information as well as a good place to share information.

You should defiantly make a website.

Having your CV and past experiences on a website makes it easy for anyone thinking of hiring you to make their decision!
And at the prices now days you can hardly not afford to have a website :shy:

That’s my thought anyways..
