Howdy guys and gals. Ill make it short and sweet.
I recently left a data center within 2 miles of me and brought my servers home. The reason? They were using them to (no joke) send out mass emails, that they obviously thought I wouldnt know about.
Here are the server specs:
4U
Pentium4 3.2 gig
4 gigs of ram
8 IDE bays with 250 Gig 8 Meg Cache Western Digital IDE drives
1 big ole promise card.
2 Terrabytes of Space.
I have a line speed of 750 Kilo up and around 4 MEG download (T1)
Now, I have Hsphere installed on it, Im running linux 7.3 (I know I know quit picking)
Im wondering...
How long do you think you could host websites on that server?
Im planning on doing as my regualr rate (which is what i had before) 5 Gigs of Storage and 20 Gigs of Bandwidth a month for $19.95
Now, Im just wondering because I DO have users that heh, think they do a TON of bandwidth, they might fart out maybe 2 megs a month...
What would you guys suggest, I really do not want to send a $3400 server accross the us to anyone for colo anywhere, if need be Ill keep adding T1 lines.
I was offered 40 mbps line for $3,000 and a full 42U rack for $800 a month, its just I dont have that kind of money to pop out right now, things going very rough for me right now.
Any suggestions?
Oh yea, for me where Im at, my "T1" as its called costs me $119 a month, I can get 5 "T1s" for $495 a month.
